Business Overview
Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Summary
You will analyze data requirements and design effective data solutions and models, and implement data management frameworks to ensure a consistent, scalable, and secure analytics development environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive data and analytics architecture.
- Design database systems, data models, and other data architecture.
- Define reference architecture and perform data mapping.
- Collaborate with data governance experts to drive data discoverability, standardization compliance, and quality.
- Develop and maintain complex data models for business data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models that align with business needs.
- Evaluate and recommend data modeling tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy of data modeling processes.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure consistency and integrity of data models.
- Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance and enhance overall system functionality.
- Document and communicate data model designs and standards to ensure understanding and compliance across the organization.
- Stay current with industry best practices and trends in data modeling and incorporate new techniques and methodologies into our data modeling processes.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Expert knowledge with Snowflake, Mulesoft experience desirable.
- Must have experience working on data Integrations with API's
- Strong understanding of SQL and data modeling concepts
- Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Erwin or Visio
- Ability to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes
- Knowledge of industry best practices for data modeling and database design
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
