Job Description
See what you're missing. Our employees work on the world's most advanced solutions - from supplying the essential information that supports decision makers with deep insights on world events to providing mission planning capabilities for the Air Force's refueling and logistics fleet that plan thousands of missions per day. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we're innovating for the future. And you can, too.
In our Advanced Mission Solutions (AMS) product line, you'll help develop solutions that address our customers' most pressing operational challenges. As a diverse organization our technology challenges span large scale/petabyte class information management solutions, collection management, autonomy, test and support, and precision targeting. We are a pathfinder in our defense and intelligence markets, focused on delivering disruptive technology to give our customers the edge they need.
The AMS product line is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Portfolio Chief Engineer (PCE) to support a collaborative approach to the design and implementation of Data and Analytics Systems capabilities. The Data & Analytic Solutions (DAS) group delivers cutting-edge big data content management, data-driven analytics, and multiple security domain software platforms that enable mission-critical decision making for our IC and DOW customers.
The PCE works on behalf of the Product Line Technical Director and is a key partner to the Portfolio Engineering Lead and Program Area Director for a program area of the product line, carrying the AMS Technical Director's technology roadmap vision into the Portfolio. The PCE focuses on working directly with customers, end users and development engineers to conceptualize, architect and present solutions that solve the toughest mission needs. We are seeking candidates with real-world experience in large-scale information and analytics solutions. The PCE plays a key role as the interface between the end customer and the development team to ensure that the delivered product meets or exceeds the users' needs. The PCE is a partner with program area leadership and is a key contributor for new business opportunities aligned to the program area growth strategy. Experience capturing new business, working with customers, and supporting proposals enables the PCE to assist in carrying out the program area's new business vision.
In this role the PCE will:
  • Support generation of the Product Line Technical Director technology roadmap and strategy
  • Work with the Portfolio Engineering Lead, Program Area Director, Technical SMEs, and other business leaders to generate the portfolio technology roadmap
  • Identify and develop unique technical ideas, architectures, and solutions to customer problems. Directly create and guide others in creating intellectual property, potentially to include patents and trade secrets
  • Define, lead, and contribute directly to internal research and development (IRaD) efforts relevant to the Program Area
  • Perform technical opportunity analysis and design, perform trade studies, and provide initial solution analysis supporting new opportunities.
  • Utilize new business capture, solution design, and development experience to engage with government stakeholders, system architects, and developers to provide program area solutions.
  • Support programs as a Chief Engineer/Chief Architect as needed.
  • Ensure Architecture Review Boards are completed for Program Area opportunities.
  • Ensure the leveraged technology product roadmap strategy is implemented for programs in the portfolio.
  • Provide architecture and technology insertion guidance to Program Engineering Managers (PEMs)
  • Collaborate with PCEs, PELs and Technical Chief Engineers across the AMS product line to achieve business outcomes through technology disruption and leveraged solutions
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. Join us.
