ROLE SUMMARY
The role of the Data Analyst is to engage with business to understand the business requirements and needs and to implement and maintain the data analytics and reporting solutions.
Key responsibilities will include stakeholder engagement in understanding the business various business units, data exploration, data cleaning, business modelling, data analytics, report building and applying data science as required within the data analytics solutions.
The Data Analyst is involved in all steps within the Data analytics development cycle to deliver high quality automated analytics solutions to business.
The Data Analyst needs to work well in an agile multi-disciplined environment which is fast moving and continuously innovating.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION

Data Analytics

  • Engage with various business units and domain experts to understand the business problems and opportunities, elicit requirements, understanding of the business needs and translating these into tangible actionable deliverables. Taking a business need/question and analyse the data in such a way that it can be answered by answering a data question.
  • Implement and maintain data analytics solutions in various analytics platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Power BI, SSRS, SAP BW Microsoft Azure Cloud environment.
  • Utilising a data analytics development cycle to implement analytics solutions.
  • Attend to add-hoc data analytics / Reporting requests and tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to add value within the business that is delivered through data analytics solutions.
  • Knowledge sharing – ensure both the business understanding and the technical knowledge is shared within the team.
  • Ensure ongoing knowledge of industry standards as well as best practice and identify opportunities to enhance the internal processes.
  • Ensure reporting and analytics solutions meet the needs of the stakeholders.

Data visualizations & reporting

  • Apply best practices when implementing reports and practical experience developing dashboards and dashboards.
  • Apply agreed to the agreed to standards and procedure as defined within the Data Management and Analytics Team

  • Maintain current knowledge of data management via literature reviews and conferences to keep knowledge up to date.

  • Participate in the relevant knowledge sharing forums.

SKILLS PROFILE

EDUCATION

Required

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and / or related qualifications
  • Relevant data analytics or certifications such as: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Python, SAS etc.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • At least 4 years of hands-on work experience in data analytics.
  • At least 2 years of experience in engaging business on requirements and implementing Microsoft PowerBI dashboards.
  • Experience with SQL and working with large-scale data sets
  • Experience in modelling business problems.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in operationalising data analytics solutions
  • Practical experience in applying data science techniques.

KNOWLEDGE

Required

  • Ability to communicate and consult a diverse group of individuals ranging from management, medical professionals, data engineers, programmers (verbal and written communication) to.   
  • Have a deep understanding of best practices when implementing reports and practical experience developing Microsoft PowerBI dashboards.
  • Knowledge of different data structures (structured vs unstructured and the associated database technologies (e.g. SQL, Hbase, CouchDb etc.)
  • Taking a business need/question and analyse the data in such a way that it can be answered by answering a data question.
  • Working knowledge of how data science (machine learning) can be utilised within prescriptive analytics projects. Practical experience would be beneficial.
  • Delivering such a diverse set of solutions to business require continuous problem solving to navigate the requirements and critical thinking to identify opportunities.
  • Experience in utilising a data analytics development cycle to implement analytics solutions.
  • Working knowledge of typical programming languages used in data analytics such as Python, JavaScript and R.
  • A working knowledge of the Azure cloud environment and the available tools to implement data analytics solutions. Practical experience would be beneficial.

Skills Required
