The Role:

  • The purpose of this role is to extract, transform, visualise, and analyse data to provide valuable insights that support informed decision-making and drive business performance. As a key team member, this position works primarily with the Fulfilment Team and collaborates with other departments to ensure data-driven strategies align with organisational objectives.

Day to Day:

  • Data Collection and Analysis
  • Gather and interpret data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets (i.e., Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel), internal systems, and external platforms like Zendesk, Metabase, and Konsole.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, supporting data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Transform raw data into meaningful insights by cleaning, filtering, and structuring it for analysis.
  • Ensure data is integrated from different sources and transformed to match reporting requirements, using ETL tools, scripts, or query languages such as SQL for relational databases, Cypher for Neo4j, or similar technologies as necessary.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in data sources promptly, ensuring data integrity across all systems and platforms.

  • Data Modeling and Reporting Quality Assurance
  • Develop and maintain data models to ensure efficient and accurate data representation across various sources and platforms.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance on data and reports to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness, adhering to established data standards.
  • Design, develop, and produce regular and ad-hoc reports tailored to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with the specific requirements of the intended audience.
  • Generate daily to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly KPI reports for monitoring and performance tracking.
  • Create intuitive visual representations of data (charts, graphs, dashboards) to simplify complex information.

  • Data Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee the entire data lifecycle from acquisition, storage, processing, and analysis to archiving or deletion, ensuring data is handled appropriately at each stage.
  • Ensure data governance policies are followed throughout the lifecycle, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and organisational standards.
  • Manage the transition of data between systems, platforms (e.g., Google Drive, OneDrive, internal systems), and environments, ensuring seamless data flow and integrity.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand reporting needs and design customized solutions across different data sources.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, and data reporting and analysis are delivered within the required timelines.

  • Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes and implement best practices for efficiency, especially in working with multiple data storage and sharing platforms (Google Drive, OneDrive, internal systems, etc.).
  • Streamline data workflows and develop automation where possible to reduce manual tasks.

  • Documentation and Training
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for data sources, reporting procedures, data models, and analysis methods, ensuring clarity for data stored across different platforms (e.g., Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, internal systems, Google Drive, OneDrive).

Our Ideal MyPasser

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years as a data analyst with experience in data modeling, data quality assurance, managing reporting processes, and overseeing the full data lifecycle.
  • Must be proficient in M language for Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Must exhibit expertise in data analysis tools, including but not limited to Excel, SQL (or similar languages), Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or other related BI tools, Google Sheets, and familiarity with Google Drive, OneDrive, and internal systems for data storage and sharing.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Must have the ability to read and write SQL or similar query languages for extracting and manipulating data.
  • Has experience with ETL processes, including using tools or writing scripts to extract, transform, and load data efficiently.
  • Has experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or advanced statistical modeling
  • Familiarity with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib, is an advantage
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate Certificate or related certifications in Power BI, SQL, or related fields from a reputable provider is an advantage

  • 0-3 Months
  • Gain a clear understanding of the role, responsibilities, and organisational goals.
  • Complete all relevant training for systems, tools, and processes.
  • Build rapport with key stakeholders and understand their expectations and communication preferences.
  • Shadow existing team members to understand best practices and workflow.
  • Start contributing to smaller tasks or projects under guidance, focusing on accuracy and understanding.

  • 3-6 Months
  • Begin managing assigned reports and tasks independently, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Identify at least one area for process improvement and propose a solution.
  • Establish strong, trust-based relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using all required tools and platforms for reporting and data management.
  • Act on feedback received to refine work outputs and communication

  • 6 – 12 Months
  • Consistently deliver accurate and timely reports and fulfil role expectations.
  • Identify and resolve recurring issues in reporting or processes with minimal supervision.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of related functions or departments and how they influence the role.
  • Assist in onboarding or supporting newer team members as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with your immediate superior to identify personal and professional goals for the next 12 months.

  • 12 - 24 Months
  • Be recognised as a go-to expert for your area, contributing to strategic discussions and decisions.
  • Take the lead on at least one cross-functional project or significant initiative.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions or tools to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to peers or junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration.

  • Timely Delivery of Reports: Consistently deliver accurate and comprehensive reports within the agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Proactive Identification of Gaps: Highlight and address discrepancies in data accuracy, process timelines, or other deliverables promptly to prevent downstream issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure high levels of precision in all outputs, minimising errors and maintaining data integrity.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Demonstrate a strong understanding of stakeholder needs and deliver value-driven outcomes, fostering positive relationships.
