The Role
As a Data Analyst within our Finance Operations team at Next, you will play a key role in turning complex operational and financial data into clear, actionable insight.
You will be a core builder of our analytical reporting capability, using SQL, Databricks and Power BI to create trusted data assets, develop reporting solutions and support better decision-making across Finance and Third-Party (TP) Retail Operations.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical capability alongside excellent analytical and stakeholder skills. You will work with large and complex datasets, build scalable data solutions, develop engaging Power BI dashboards and translate analysis into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong hands on experience in SQL is essential, experience with Power BI and Databricks is highly desirable
This is a fully office-based role and requires you to be based in Leicestershire, with attendance in the office five days a week.
What You Will Do

Use SQL/T-SQL to query, transform, analyse and optimise complex operational and financial datasets.

Use Databricks to interrogate and investigate data to provide valuable insights for our retails and stock operations.

Develop Power BI reporting to provide key insights to our Partners

Structure data to support high-performing Power BI solutions, with a strong understanding of DAX and data modelling.

Develop and maintain data quality, validation and governance processes to ensure reporting is accurate and trusted.

Define KPIs and reporting requirements with Finance and operational stakeholders.

Analyse performance, investigate variances and identify opportunities for improvement.

Translate complex data into clear, compelling stories and recommendations that influence business decisions.

Deliver ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support key operational events and priorities.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Retail and other analytical teams to improve reporting and analytical processes.
What You Will Bring
Essential
- Advanced SQL/T-SQL skills, with the ability to write, optimise and debug complex queries and work with large datasets.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to senior and non-technical stakeholders.

Python experience, particularly for data manipulation and scripting.
- Strong hands-on Databricks experience, ideally including notebooks, data modelling and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Strong Power BI development experience, including dashboard design, data modelling and an understanding of DAX.

Experience with Databricks Workflows/Jobs and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.

Skills Required
