Overview

DLH is looking for a Public Health Data Analyst, using SAS, to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. 

CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) is charged with preventing HIV infection and reducing the incidence of HIV-related illness and death. The overarching objectives of the contract held by DLH are to assist DHP in addressing its public health mission by providing data management, data governance, data analysis, and data dissemination support to strengthen the nationwide capacity to monitor the HIV epidemic. As such, DLH is seeking a Data Analyst with the following skills:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct geospatial and molecular HIV analysis and interpret results using SAS.
  • Work collaboratively with other analysts to develop novel code in support of analyses.
  • Support dissemination and reporting of data to internal and external partners.
  • Review data error logs to ensure that requested data modifications are done according to the protocol. 
  • Review the data files to document problems and proposed corrections needed to be made to finalize the data set.
  • Document problems with the SAS program and any proposed corrections needed to finalize the data.
  • Merge data from different sources into spreadsheets; conduct necessary steps to ensure the quality of the resulting merge.
  • Assist with developing data management processes and protocols.
  • Provide updates to team members regarding the status of projects.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or related field and at least 2 years of experience in conducting research and generating SAS-based reports using a variety of methods (e.g., PROC REPORT, PROC TABULATE) and exporting those reports to other formats such as Microsoft Excel, PDF, and HTML or PhD degree in public health, statistics, or related field and 1 year of experience conducting research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple data sources to monitor and assess data to ensure data quality, including accuracy and completeness.
  • Must have scientific writing skills, supervisory skills, and advanced knowledge of statistics.
  • Moderate proficiency in specified software applications.
  • Strong SAS experience.
  • Clear communication (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Knowledge of HIV, molecular data, and public health surveillance systems.
  • Experience with large (>500,000 observations), documents-based datasets.
  • Detail-oriented and able to create meticulous documentation of variables, datasets, and data attributes with a commitment to generating accurate data and products.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient SAS coding experience (SAS MACROS, PROC SQL, FORMATS, etc.).
  • Experience in creating and managing dashboards (Power BI).
