What this position entails

The Analyst will support research and analytical initiatives that drive enhancements to the Irix product suite. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external collaborators—including clients, data providers, and reinsurers—to contribute to the development of insights and product improvements. Responsibilities include assisting in the design and execution of mortality studies, analyzing results, and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

The Analyst will also contribute to the development of foundational analytical assets and support innovation efforts that power Irix. This includes working with industry-leading mortality data, supporting study development and application, and collaborating across teams to inform product strategy and advance analytical capabilities.

What you will be doing

  • Support the Irix product research pipeline by gathering market feedback, contributing to research scoping, and assisting in prioritization efforts
  • Perform hands-on analysis to support mortality studies, product enhancements, and research initiatives
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and delivery of mortality study outputs, including reports, dashboards, databases, and tools
  • Translate research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations in partnership with product, software development, and other technical teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science and product teams, to support model development, feature ideation, and performance monitoring
  • Assist in evaluating and communicating the value of new and existing products through analysis and client-facing deliverables
  • Create clear, high-quality documentation and support standards for transparency, quality, and reproducibility
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver insights and materials that meet client needs and highlight product value
  • Support the creation of thought leadership materials, including presentations, webinars, and white papers
  • Contribute to experimentation and prototyping efforts by analyzing results and helping iterate on ideas quickly
  • Assist in developing internal tools and resources to improve product and research efficiency
  • Present findings and insights to stakeholders to support awareness and decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with data governance standards and secure handling of data assets

What we need

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or another quantitative field
  • 1+ years of experience in analytics, actuarial science, data science, or product R&D
  • Experience working with prescription and medical claims data
  • Understanding of underwriting principles and key drivers of mortality and morbidity risk
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to connect detailed analysis to broader business objectives
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and contribute to shared initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with programming and data tools such as R, Python, Databricks, Jira, and Confluence

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is September 30, 2026. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $49,900 - $109,020. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:
    • $57,385 - $88,895 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and
    • $68,080 - $109,020 for experience greater than 2 years.
  • All other states:
    • $49,900 - $77,300 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and
    • $59,200 - $94,800 for experience greater than 2 years.

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
