Job Description

We’re looking for a Data Analyst who is passionate about Wise’s mission of Money Without Borders and who will partner with our global compliance teams to help us on our journey to Mission Zero!

About the team:

Truly delivering on our promise of Money Without Borders means we need to build the best local setups within each of the markets we serve, while ensuring we appropriately manage the risks associated with business operations.

You will join a team of analysts who will develop and own the reporting layer for compliance activities to give assurance to the Board and our regulators that we are effectively managing the risks we face.  These activities include regulatory reporting- both routine and ad hoc- as well as compliance monitoring and testing.

Your mission:

You will join the Compliance & Internal Audit Analytics team to help the organisation better understand compliance risks across the globe. You will do this by partnering very closely with 2nd line for the UK & Europe regions to ensure they can execute against the compliance regulatory reporting schedule, as well as leveraging data to proactively monitor risks.

You’ll own the challenge of:

  • Establishing an effective engagement model between Analytics and Compliance in providing assurance that 1st line is effectively managing risks, primarily focused on the UK & Europe regions, but with the opportunity to partner with other regions when required.

  • Executing an implementation plan to address analytical support for regulatory reporting

  • Identifying opportunities for where automated compliance monitoring would be highly impactful

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Be part of a positive change in the world. Wise is  fixing a broken financial system, and putting people and businesses in control of their money

  • Help build a world-class compliance and internal audit analytics team that fosters high trust with our customers and external partners.

  • Travel when needed to our offices across the globe to connect with local compliance experts.

  • Learn from a global network of professionals. We have a large, diverse team of analysts, data scientists, compliance and internal audit partners that you will work with and learn from.

Qualifications

A bit about you:

  • You have built reporting outputs, creating advanced SQL scripts based on requirements communicated by stakeholders

  • You have experience with using data engineering tools (GitHub, dbt, Airflow etc.) to transform messy data into clean and efficient pipelines

  • You have experience with designing and owning data assets; you can build and maintain complex data sources and can leverage visualisation tools (Lightdash, Looker, Superset, Tableau etc.) to surface insights

  • You understand the importance of data integrity, quality & governance. You know how to produce comprehensive data documentation

  • You have stakeholder management skills; you know how to collaborate with key partners to get the job done

  • You have a very strong sense of ownership and care about doing things the right way

  • You have 3+ years experience working in data analytics

  • You are able to prioritise your own work and independently manage competing priorities

  • You understand the importance of devoting time to develop more junior team members through coaching and feedback

  • You can contribute your own ideas to influence the team’s strategic roadmap

  • You are proactive about asking the right questions and resolving blockers

Bonus:

  • You understand the purpose of robust risk, compliance and internal audit functions in financial institutions and are passionate about ensuring that customers are protected through these processes

  • You have an understanding of how analytics can be used within Compliance to provide assurance over the effectiveness of risk management

  • You have experience in regulatory reporting and monitoring controls
