Job Description:
General Function / Summary:
The Database Administrator is responsible for establishing and managing data access and support practices for a specific database technology. This role is also responsible for developing and contributing to solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Essential Duties:
Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements.
Monitor systems and platforms for availability and performance.
Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
Restore and recover corrupted databases.
Install and test upgrades and patches.
Implement security and encryption.
Manage application environments (Development/QA/Production).
Manage promotion of approved development into production environment.
Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
Lead efforts in upgrading legacy systems to current versions of software.
Document database architecture.
Assist application development in the creation of database schemes, tables, procedures and permissions.
Set up data sharing and disk partitioning.
Develop database utilities and automated performance reporting.
Create shell scripts for task automation.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s in computer science, business, engineering, math, or closely related field, or significant equivalent experience
2 + years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA), including experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, archiving, and monitoring
Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options
Experience designing, implementing and maintaining various data replication techniques
Working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools
Strong problem solving, collaboration, time management and organization skills
Detail-oriented team player with ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Experience writing, debugging and tuning complex SQL Queries
Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting
Ability and willingness to consistently live and embrace our core values of accountable, inclusive, transparent, and focused
Travel / Attendance:
Will participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
