Quanex is looking for a Cybersecurity Manager in Houston, TX or Akron, OH.

The Cybersecurity Manager will be responsible for oversight, monitoring, and alerting all aspects of the Quanex cybersecurity environment.  This position will have direct reports and will be responsible for the cybersecurity program of the business.

  • Security risks are proactively identified, evaluated, communicated, and addressed with appropriate remediation or risk treatment plans.
  • Cybersecurity assessments, audits, penetration tests, and compliance activities are completed effectively, with issues tracked through resolution or mitigation.
  • Third-party and vendor security risks are consistently evaluated and managed through a structured due-diligence and risk management process.
  • The MDR and outsourced SOC partnerships operate effectively, with security events appropriately monitored, investigated, escalated, and resolved.
  • Leadership receives clear, concise, and meaningful cybersecurity reporting, metrics, and dashboards that support informed decision-making.
  • The Cyber Incident Response Plan is maintained, tested, and continuously improved, with the organization prepared to respond effectively to security incidents.
  • Security is embedded into IT projects, systems, processes, and business decisions rather than treated as a separate function.
  • Quanex remains aligned with evolving cybersecurity threats, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Strong partnerships are established across global IT and business teams, creating shared accountability for cybersecurity.
  • The organization demonstrates measurable improvement in its overall cybersecurity maturity, risk posture, compliance, and resilience.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration
  • 7+ years of experience in SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, security technologies.
  • 7+ years of experience in management of the security for large global networks.
  • Expert knowledge of and ability to oversee and implement complex IT security best practices.
  • Experience with enterprise backups and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, networking, TCP/UDP ports, and firewalls.
  • Demonstrated experience in new infrastructure deployments, overall network functionality, and multiple vendor technology interoperability.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade monitoring, alerting, and management platforms such as System Center, Solar Winds Orion, Splunk, etc.
  • Requires at least 15 years total IT work experience, with at least 5 years of experience directly in a cybersecurity role and 2 years leading a cybersecurity team, directly or indirectly.

The salary range for this position is $140K-170K with the potential to earn an annual bonus.
