Enterprise Technology Services is responsible for deploying secure infrastructure capabilities to 70,000+ Salesforce employees and business partners. We are looking for an experienced Sr Cloud Network Engineer to support our business objectives. This role will be responsible for successful management of our internal infrastructure for Business Technology (BT) network engineering.

As a Senior Cloud Network Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for all activities related to the network architecture of our BT infrastructure operating on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and Google Cloud (GCP).The successful candidate will bring deep, cross-functional knowledge, solid experience in planning and implementing global cloud-based Security solutions, and be a technology generalist. This role will drive our global design and enable development of engineering artifacts such as low-level designs. They will minimize technical exposure and business risk by focussing on global security, audit, compliance, and service resiliency, and have the demonstrated ability to understand complex Business Technology environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in system design planning, review, and implementation to create enterprise solutions built on AWS,GCP and other cloud providers.
  • Integrate networks with Public Cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP) using transit VPC, VPC Peering, IPSec and other Secure Cloud Interconnects.
  • Develop and maintain standards for cloud platforms, operating systems, blueprints, and artifacts.
  • Execute large and transformational infrastructure projects (e.g. on-premises to the cloud).
  • Delivery of programmable infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code) and automation/orchestration such as network, security, server, IAM, OS, and applications.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems and identifying problems in
  • advance, and propose solutions.
  • Drive process adoption through documentation, Lunch and learn sessions, tech talks, etc.
  • Deep dive and become an expert as needed classic infrastructure domains i.e.server, storage, network, security, database, IAM
  • Be the subject matter expert for implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) for Infrastructure as Code.
  • Provide operational support for Infrastructure as Code and native public cloud services (AWS: IAM, Cloudtrail, VPC, EC2)
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities and respond to / resolve emergency issues after hours as necessary



Required Skills/Experience:

  • B.S. in Computer/EE or similar fields. M.S. is a plus.
  • 5+ Years experience as a Network Engineer administering network infrastructure in Public Cloud environment for medium to large scale enterprise.
  • 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting network issues related to VPC, VPC peering Transit Gateway, firewall, load balancer, TCP/IP and routing,switching protocols.
  • Hands-on expertise on FirePower/ASA, PAN or any equivalent Firewall vendor is a must.
  • Foundational knowledge of technologies around network Linux, PKI, DNS, TLS, Certificates and HTTPS
  • Solid understanding of IPSec VPN, Load-balancers, Zscaler.
  • Working knowledge of SAML, IdP (Okta) would also be nice to have.
  • Deep understanding of the network protocol stack, including L3 and switching and IP (v4/v6) addressing, routing & switching.
  • Experience with Aviatrix is a plus.
  • Ability to code/script in administrative type language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Go)
  • Experience in developing next generation infrastructure, including requirements specification, vendor evaluation and selection, data driven POCs, vendor interoperability, pilot deployments, and iterative design.
  • Sound Experience with routing with BGP, OSPF and MPLS.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading projects from conception through completion.
  • Confirmed ability to multi-task in an energizing environment.



Desired skills:

  • Any certification in cloud computing (AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified Security Specialist.)
  • Technical certification such as PCNSE is desirable but not required.
  • Nice to have - Experience with other cloud providers (i.e. Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • Experience with orchestration technologies (e.g. Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
