The Red Hat Public Sector Department of Defense and related System Integrators (DOD/SI) Services team is looking for an Associate Manager, Architect to join us in the U.S. In this role, you will lead architects in the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. You'll be responsible for working with other Architect Managers and Executive team to build out a team of Architects and Consultants that you'll help to develop, enable, manage, and mentor. You will represent Red Hat as the industry leader in cloud and container technologies, business automation, and modern application development techniques. By collaborating with customers, you and your team will build, test, and iterate over innovative infrastructures and applications that increase time to value. You'll serve as an advisor and mentor to architects in the public sector and help ensure their daily success. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Showcase your domain knowledge of the DOD/SI
  • Provide technical direction for the scoping of consulting opportunities within a territory
  • Assign necessary technical talent to presales opportunities within a territory
  • Develop relationships with key customer stakeholders at an executive level within a territory
  • Develop strategic relationships with other managers and senior managers within Red Hat Consulting and presales
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the hiring and enablement programs within the organization
  • Assist with the integration with the Strategic Technology Practice (STP), North America Public Sector (NAPS) Emerging Technology (ET), Business, Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE), and Engineering teams
  • Individually and in coordination with other architects, develop multi-year roadmaps with customers at the program, agency, and sub-regional levels
  • On a per-program and per-agency basis, develop and maintain strategic awareness of major technical implementation streams aligned with Red Hat consulting delivery teams; formulate value-add risks and recommendations to be communicated internally and to customer stakeholders
  • Connect technical requirements to business requirements in scoping, discovery session, etc. Ensure that, from a technical delivery perspective, major implementation streams and delivery milestones are clearly connected to customer mission objectives and specific ROI
  • Mentor, enable, and grow technical talent in a matrixed organization
  • Manage and mentor architects within the NAPS


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams, scoping opportunities, and coordinating resources for the delivery of projects
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a technical discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. public sector defense agencies
  • Experience leading and supporting Day 1 and 2 consulting technical delivery in internet-disconnected customer environments, including necessary adaptations of vendor software installation and long-term operations and maintenance procedures
  • Experience working closely with the sales teams, senior managers, architect managers, and enterprise account architects on long-range plans for Red Hat's consulting services for the overall account success
  • Experience coordinating with senior managers and delivery architects to resolve customer escalations as they arise
  • Experience working with the Project Management Office, senior managers, business teams, Red Hat Support, NAPS ET, and North America STP teams to gather lessons learned from the field and establish remediation plans to shape future projects and account success
  • Experience mentoring account enterprise architects in skills needed to find opportunities to position Red Hat's consulting and offerings within their accounts
  • Experience collaborating with senior managers and regional directors to assist with go-to-market strategies that align with sales initiatives to increase the presence of architects in a territory or market and enhance the overall technical expertise on these accounts
  • Experience with business-to-technical translation critical to communicating and collaborating with customer executive stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with people management or team leadership and building out a highly functioning team of consulting experts
  • Willingness to travel onsite to current and prospective customers
  • Ability to achieve billable customer utilization target of 35-40% annually; ability to obtain and maintain government agency-specific public trusts necessary to fulfill target
