What You'll Do
As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will serve as a key contributor to the university's security and infrastructure operations, helping ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical systems and data.
Security Operations & Incident Response
- Lead security response efforts, manage security alerts, and coordinate resolution activities
- Monitor systems, networks, and traffic for security anomalies, lateral movement, and potential threats
- Respond rapidly to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and emerging risks
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability management activities
Security Architecture & Governance
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud and on-premises environments
- Architect and enforce zero-trust security principles, micro-segmentation strategies, and least-privilege access models
- Implement and maintain cloud security posture management across Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra, AWS, and Okta
- Manage PKI infrastructure, certificate lifecycles, and security standards
- Enforce identity and access management (IAM), privileged access controls, and secrets management practices
Infrastructure & Systems Engineering
- Maintain and support critical infrastructure, applications, servers, and security platforms
- Assist with system upgrades, technology deployments, and infrastructure enhancements
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, redundancy, and business continuity strategies
- Participate in the design and implementation of information and operational support systems
Collaboration & Strategic Technology Initiatives
- Partner with colleagues across the university to identify and resolve technical challenges
- Communicate cybersecurity risks and solutions to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise
- Collaborate with vendors and IT partners to support enterprise technology initiatives
- Contribute to risk assessments aligned with frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and SOC 2
- Support the university's growing AI initiatives by helping establish and maintain secure AI practices
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting and securing enterprise technology environments
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and infrastructure security
- Experience with Windows-based systems installation, administration, and maintenance
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies and security threats
Preferred Experience
- Cloud security experience with Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra, AWS, and/or Okta
- Experience implementing Zero Trust security models
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and SOC 2
- Experience with vulnerability management, incident response, and security monitoring
- Knowledge of identity and access management, PKI, and privileged access controls
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000-$115,000 annually
- Actual compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
