What can I expect from the programme?
Our Graduate programme will give you an experience like no other – giving you the opportunity to build and advance your career in Cyber security. You will gain exposure to working in cyber with the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people right across our enterprise. We are offering a permanent graduate position on a tailored programme which has been designed with future leaders in mind.
Our current programme is based in Auckland and will run for approximately 10-12 months. You’ll start with us as a permanent employee in February 2027 on an immersive orientation which will help grow your understanding of Westpac NZ along with the wider grad cohort. At the end of your programme, you’ll be supported to find a suitable role that matches your capabilities and interests within your business area.
Throughout the programme:
Our Cyber Champions, leaders and mentors will support you during the programme experience. The programme is structured to help you identify your focus areas whilst tailored training sessions build and strengthen your technical and soft skills - accelerating your personal and professional career development. Expect to be able to give back by joining numerous communities, volunteering and sustainability initiatives rounding out your whole work life experience.
The day to day:
- Rotate across key cyber teams to gain hands-on experience in Privileged Access Management, Detect and Respond, Assurance and Measurement, and Advisory.
- Support cyber operations by assisting with monitoring, incident response, and access management tasks.
- Contribute to risk and compliance activities, including audits, access reviews, and control testing.
- Engage with stakeholders to help deliver cyber awareness, advisory support, and policy updates.
- Analyse and report on cyber metrics to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

To be eligible, you must be in your final year of study or have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the past 12 months. Our Graduate opportunities are entry level roles giving those on the programme broad exposure across the relevant business unit. Additionally, applicants must be New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents.
We’re looking to fill our program with original thinkers, innovators, and strong team players. Ideal candidates will have a background in Computer Science, with a specialisation in Cyber Security, and will be able to demonstrate relevant experience gained during their studies.
We value individuals who can identify opportunities, adapt quickly, innovate effectively, and contribute to driving productivity. You’ll also need to bring exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), a customer-centric mindset, and a resilient attitude — along with high levels of personal integrity, professionalism, and drive.
