Summary

Hamilton Kent is seeking for a Cutter to join their team. Cutting is the production process of cutting strip rubber to specified lengths.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Confirm that materials have been approved by the Quality Control department.
  • Verify the accuracy of the painted logo on the strip rubber or print the correct logo following the Lead Hand's instructions.
  • Use air to blow through the strip rubber tube to inspect for pinholes.
  • Adjust the cut length on the automatic or manual cutter.
  • Proceed with the cutting process.
  • Ensure that the cut ends are straight and at a perfect 90-degree angle.
  • Make sure the Quality Control team evaluates the first-off item.
  • Inspect and log the cut length every half hour.
  • Transfer the cut pieces onto a cart and complete the identification tag.
  • Weigh and document scrap material.
  • Record and document all necessary information.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to meet production goals.
  • Must consistently meet and uphold company quality and production standards.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Operate the printer, manual cutter, or automatic cutter as required.

  • Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our gasket manufacturing process

Complexity & Judgement

Encounters quality issues & machine faults which need to be reported to the Shift Supervisor

Contacts

Interacts on a daily basis with Shift Supervisor, Lead Hand & Q.A. Inspector

Occasional interaction with Health & Safety Coordinator and Production Manager

Working conditions

Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of physical labor. Lifting, pulling, pushing (less than 25 lbs), standing and walking cover the majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, and the use of equipment with sharp blades.

The incumbent understands respects and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations.
