We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cutoff Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the cutoff operations within our manufacturing or processing facility. The ideal candidate will ensure that all cutoff procedures are performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and regulations. Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of the Cutoff Department, which includes saws, press brakes, lasers, and waterjet operations. As the first step in the shop production process, the Cutoff Department is responsible for supplying cut and formed materials to downstream departments to support safety, quality, schedule attainment, and overall production flow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

· Reviews production orders, schedules, product specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements to plan departmental operations and align Cutoff Department priorities with downstream production needs.

· Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

· Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

· Monitors and adjusts the flow of incoming materials and work in process to maintain appropriate levels required to support downstream departmental schedules.

· Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.

· Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

· Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

· Ensures daily operations are performed in accordance with safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and equipment-specific requirements.

· Leads department-related projects by developing plans, coordinating resources, communicating changes and progress, and completing assigned projects on time and within budget.

· Coordinates staffing, machine utilization, and department priorities to support on-time completion of cutoff, forming, laser, and waterjet work.

· Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

· Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to appropriate parties for action.

· Approves time for subordinates on a daily basis.

· Submits required department data to the Manager for monthly review by the 8th business day of each month.

· Works scheduled departmental hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Directly supervises employees in the assigned department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred but not required; one to three years of related manufacturing, production, or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills: Epicor; Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other production or business systems used to support scheduling, reporting, and departmental communication.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and manufacturing equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Skills Required
