Actuarial Consultant - Long Term Care
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to drive strategy and execution as a member of CNA's Long Term Care Inforce Management team. Come work alongside actuarial professionals and collaborate with key internal and external business partners to directly influence overall divisional results by managing the risk associated with CNA's Long Term Care business. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Collaborate with and influence team members in the development and execution of risk mitigation strategy for the Long Term Care insurance division, including re-pricing and other strategic initiatives.
2. Leverage R and other advanced data tools to develop and maintain core data processes that are the basis for annual indication reviews, premium and claim projections, ad-hoc regulator requests, and strategic initiative tracking and reporting.
3. Compile, create and/or perform technical reviews of actuarial memorandums for rate filing purposes, including preparation of actuarial exhibits and data summaries.
4. Analyze and review financial, statistical and mathematical data to help inform future business decisions.
5. Drive process improvements to gain efficiencies, while creating repeatable and auditable processes.
6. May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance, actuarial and statistical concepts.
2. Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge. Long Term Care insurance industry knowledge would be a plus but not required.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
4. Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex situations and issues
5. Solid project management, organization, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
6. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews.
7. Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports.
8. Demonstrated programming skills for manipulating data and visualizing results; e.g. SAS/SQL/R, Alteryx, Tableau. Demonstrated experience with R is preferred.
9. Experience in Moody's GGY AXIS Actuarial software a plus, but not required.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of three to five years of related work experience, preferably in the Long Term Care Insurance or Disability Insurance industry (but not required).
3. Typically has their Associateship accreditation (ASA) or near completion of their Associateship.
