The Compliance Technology Team at Coinbase plays a critical role in achieving our mission. Compliance Technology designs, builds and maintains complex systems at a global scale to meet BSA/AML regulations with industry best practices. Within the Compliance Technology - KYC team, we are building KYC technology, Customer Risk Rating models, and internal and external reports and dashboards to support our Compliance processes and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should have strong data analytics, SQL, and data visualization skills. In addition, the candidate should have working knowledge of BSA/AML compliance, KYC and customer risk rating. Software engineering experience in Compliance will be a big plus.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Hands on building and enhancing AML/KYC Customer Risk Scoring models and services
- Cross functional collaboration with Product and Engineering teams across all Coinbase products and services
- Continuously test, diagnose, validate, and improve the performance of these models
- Write complex, yet efficient and reusable SQL code meant for the improvement, manipulation, and analysis of data.
- Manage several high priority projects simultaneously building and deploying to further advance Coinbase’s Compliance program
- Investigate issues, fix production bugs and build enhancements requested by end-users in the Compliance and Operations teams
- Writing clear documentation which can be reviewed by regulators and external examiners
- Working to a deadline to deliver accurate reports and dashboards
- Design and build self-service dashboards and reports, including the use of visualizations
- Extracting and manipulate data using SQL
- Maintaining code for projects via GitHub
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Minimum 2 years of technology experience in a data analytics or a systems engineering role at a technology, consulting, financial institution, or a financial technology firm
- Excellent analytical skills with SQL
- Develop performant Golang-based models using engineering best practices
- Writing clear documentation which can be reviewed by regulators and external examiners
- Experience with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC and risk ratings technologies
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including writing formal documentation)
- Keen interest in learning about crypto and building innovative solutions
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment; prior experience in a start-up or high growth environment will be a plus
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Model Validations and Regulatory Examinations
- Understanding of AML/KYC regulations and KYC controls in financial institutions
- Knowledge of data visualization tools like Looker, Superset, Tableau
- Prior development experience in Financial Crimes, KYC and AML Risk Rating

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
Pay Range:
$127,075—$149,500 USD
