The Customer Data Specialist I at Neogen is responsible for generating and quality-checking internal and external reports, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery to customers. This role processes standard customer data requests, manages cases in Salesforce, and resolves data-related issues. The specialist will respond to escalated customer inquiries, troubleshoot simple data issues, and convert data into requested formats. Additional responsibilities include managing sample pull orders, updating internal systems like GS LIMS and Genomics databases, and maintaining parentage permission records. The role involves collaborating with Sales, Customer Success, and other teams to fulfill customer data needs and assist with customer visits and basic training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Generate and quality-check internal and external reports, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of data to customers.
  • Process standard customer data requests, delivering reports, data files, and resolving any issues as necessary.
  • Manage and resolve cases in Salesforce, addressing customer data inquiries and issues in a timely manner to meet service quality metrics.
  • Respond to escalated phone calls from customers regarding data-related questions or issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Convert customer data into requested formats, ensuring accuracy and proper delivery.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot simple data issues, performing technical checks to ensure accuracy before data delivery.
  • Submit and manage sample pull orders and retrieval requests, ensuring timely and accurate sample handling.
  • Process updates to internal systems such as GS LIMS and Genomics databases to maintain accurate data records.
  • Maintain accurate records of communications related to parentage permissions.
  • Work with Sales, Customer Success, and other teams to provide data-related support and assist with customer data requests.
  • Assist with customer visits and provide basic training as required.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, huddles, and training sessions to continuously learn and improve skills.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of customer service experience with a focus on handling customer inquiries and delivering quality service.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience at Neogen.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in data management, reporting, and delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient technical skills with a strong ability to work with software and data systems.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to and become proficient in new software and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to engage with both internal teams and external customers in a clear, professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively based on customer needs and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of Excel is strongly preferred for handling complex data tasks.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Genomics systems is a plus, providing familiarity with internal data management processes.
  • Previous experience working with Salesforce is preferred, enhancing the ability to navigate customer service cases and track customer interactions effectively.
  • SQL experience is preferred, enabling effective querying and management of customer data when needed.
