Customer Account Specialist
General Summary:
Processes orders from walk-in customers as well as orders received via phone call, fax, or other electronic communication. This position ensures the appropriate product is selected, ordered, and delivered to the customer based on the customers’ business needs. Material is purchased on account, credit card, cash, check.
Key Responsibilities – Customer Account Representative:
1. Manages customer orders, changes, and cancellations as received via phone call, fax, or other electronic
communication.
2. Uses discretion and judgment when negotiating price to maximize profit margin while meeting the customers’
requirements.
3. Researches and identifies current vendors or other sources that carry non-stock product to fill customers’ orders.
Negotiates pricing and delivery directly with these suppliers. Coordinates order placement with purchasing team.
4. Responds to customer requests by providing information on product information, price, delivery, expediting, and t
tracking missing or delayed shipments.
5. Analyzes system generated reports to proactively track and/or expedite the status of open orders and quotes.
6. Attends internal and external training on industry products and systems offered by our vendors.
Key Responsibilities – Counter Sales:
1. Enters customer order into the business system and completes order by filling, checking, and processing order.
2. Maintains a balanced cash drawer.
3. Assists at will call when needed.
4. Provides customer with basic technical support.
5. Handles incoming returns from customers and forwards to return cart. Re-stocks material that is not sold.
6. Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions product weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted when stocking, loading or unloading products. Typically bends, stoops and/or crouches from various heights on a regular basis to stock or deliver product to a customer.
7. Operates forklift: proper training and certification required. May also use material handling equipment (including pallet jack, dollies, handcart & conveyor).
8. Assists in maintaining a neat & professional counter area including general housekeeping as needed.
9. Assists in daily warehouse operations when requested by leader/supervisor/manager.
10. Supports the quality initiatives set forth by the Region.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Two or more years of work experience in warehouse operations required.
3. Two or more years working knowledge of internal operations and products authorized to be distributed through McNaughton-McKay.
4. Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact with customers in a professional manner.
5. Ability to work with minimal supervision, organizing, prioritizing and completing of tasks.
6. Basic computer skills with MS Office products required.

QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree or a pattern of continuing education preferred. High school diploma required. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree or pattern of pursuing a degree.
- High degree of knowledge of electrical distribution operations and/or similar product knowledge; two or more years of experience in operations, counter sales or in the electrical distribution industry preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks at own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills with MS Office products preferred with thorough knowledge of the business system preferred.
Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of work experience in warehouse operations
- Two or more years working knowledge of internal operations and authorized products distributed through McNaughton-McKay
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Proper forklift training and certification
