Curriculum Developer – Music
Role Summary
The Music Curriculum Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving music learning programs that inspire children to discover, enjoy, and master music. This role ensures that music lessons are age-appropriate, creative, and impactful, nurturing children’s musical abilities alongside their confidence, creativity, and holistic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Design & Development
- Create structured music curriculum frameworks for different age groups (e.g., 3–6, 7–12, teens), balancing fundamentals, creativity, and fun.
- Develop lesson plans, sheet music, repertoire selections, and practice exercises tailored to piano, guitar, drums, vocals, and other key instruments.
- Integrate music theory, ear training, rhythm exercises, and performance practice in an engaging way.
- Incorporate progressive learning pathways (beginner → intermediate → advanced) with clear milestones.
Innovative & Child-Centered Approaches
- Apply child-centered learning methods such as play-based exploration for younger learners and project-based learning (band/jam sessions, recitals) for older students.
- Blend traditional techniques (scales, theory, notation) with modern approaches (using apps, backing tracks, improvisation, contemporary songs).
- Encourage creativity and self-expression by integrating composition, group performance, and improvisation.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Design age-appropriate assessment tools: practical performance checklists, rhythm and ear-training exercises, recital evaluations, and progress reports.
- Recommend external benchmarks (ABRSM, Trinity, Yamaha methods) while keeping flexibility for hobby learners.
Teacher Training & Support
- Develop teaching guides and training workshops for music instructors, ensuring consistent delivery.
- Coach teachers on classroom management in music, motivational techniques, and blending fun with discipline.
Continuous Improvement
- Research global music education best practices and adapt to local context.
- Collect feedback from teachers, students, and parents to refine curriculum.
- Ensure alignment with Seven Retail’s education philosophy, while meeting local government/education standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or Early Childhood Education with a music specialization.
- 3–5 years of curriculum design or teaching experience in music schools, enrichment centers, or formal education.
- Strong knowledge of child development, music pedagogy, and performance training.
- Creative, structured, and detail-oriented with the ability to design engaging and progressive music content.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with teachers, performers, and education leaders.
