Our mission, grounded in democratizing education, is to create access for learners from every background and empower them to achieve their aspirations and advance their careers.

We are committed to delivering rigorous, flexible programs that are both personally fulfilling and professionally rewarding, while contributing to the betterment of society. Together with Toronto Film School, we offer creative and academic pathways at both the college and university levels, cultivating a multidisciplinary environment where innovation and the arts converge.

Our community is vibrant and diverse. Many of our learners are adults balancing education with careers and personal commitments. Every member of our team – whether in teaching, operations, or technology – is dedicated to removing barriers and expanding access. Together, we deliver flexible, industry-informed learning that leads to meaningful opportunities.

At our core is human connection – guiding people to reimagine their futures in a community defined by opportunity, creativity, and growth.

Who we need

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Curriculum Design, we are hiring a Curriculum Design Specialist for an 18 month maternity leave contract starting July 2026. As our new Curriculum Design Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and renewing academic programs, instructional and assessment practices, and learning materials. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and faculty to support the design and development of face-to-face, online, and blended curricula for a growing suite of programs across a variety of credential types, disciplines, and audiences.

This is an existing hybrid role, with the expectation you can attend in-office at either our Fredericton or Toronto campus as required.

What's in it for you

Impact. You will play a critical role in shaping the student learning experience at one of Canada's leading private universities. Working closely with faculty and subject matter experts, you will help maintain, enhance, and evolve curriculum across a range of programs, ensuring students receive a high-quality and engaging educational experience.

Belonging. The Curriculum Design team believes the best work happens through collaboration. You will join a supportive group that values purposeful curiosity, continuous improvement, respectful feedback, and knowledge sharing. We work together, challenge each other thoughtfully, and celebrate successes as a team.

Growth and opportunity. This is an 18-month contract role with the opportunity to gain experience in curriculum design, instructional design and project management, within a growing organization. As Yorkville University continues to evolve and expand, there may be opportunities to take on new challenges and continue growing your career with us.

As our new Curriculum Design Specialist, you will:

  • Collaborate. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and faculty to understand the goals of new and existing academic programs. You will analyze and translate the program goals into comprehensive curricula, including but not limited to learning outcomes, assessments, and content.
  • Develop. You will integrate innovative and effective instructional strategies and resources into curriculum design to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Evaluate. You will review curricular needs and recommend instructional and assessment strategies that account for regulatory requirements, align with program and course learning outcomes, and model accessible, authentic, and culturally responsive pedagogies.
  • Continuously improve. You will stay current with educational research, pedagogical trends, and advancements in curriculum design and share relevant insights with the team. You will analyze existing curricula alongside available data, including student and stakeholder feedback, to identify areas for improvement or revision to address changing educational needs.
  • Communicate and influence. You will track and report on the progress of curriculum development and renewal projects, proactively identifying and communicating risks to timelines and deliverables. You will build productive relationships with faculty, subject matter experts, and academic leaders, guiding projects forward, managing competing priorities, and helping stakeholders stay aligned and engaged throughout the development process.

You have:

  • The experience. You have a Bachelor's degree and experience in curriculum design, instructional design, learning and development, education, quality assurance, or a related field. A Master's degree is considered an asset. You bring a creative and innovative mindset, a passion for continuous improvement, and a commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences. Experience in post-secondary education is an asset but not required.
  • The project management skills. You are highly organized and thrive in environments where multiple priorities compete for your attention. You can establish project plans, manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and keep complex initiatives moving forward. You are comfortable following up, holding others accountable, navigating competing priorities, and delivering high-quality work within established deadlines.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have exceptional oral and written communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders. You prioritize taking and fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach to curriculum design and can engage program leadership, subject matter experts, and faculty to understand evolving needs and requirements. You are a creative problem solver, able to balance and shift priorities, anticipate and respond to issues, and manage change effectively.
  • The technical skills. You are highly proficient with the MS Office suite, including Teams. You are comfortable analyzing, aggregating, and interpreting data and can create presentations to show your findings and inform decisions. You have exceptional attention to detail and you enjoy the nitty gritty work of editing and formatting.  You are familiar with using AI tools responsibly to support research, content development, analysis, and productivity while maintaining human oversight and quality standards.
  • The curriculum and instructional design expertise. You have in-depth knowledge of curriculum development principles including constructive alignment and mapping, educational standards, and instructional design models. You are familiar with relevant provincial, federal, and international accessibility standards, such as AODA and WCAG. You have a strong understanding of pedagogical theories, teaching methodologies, and assessment practices.
