Cours autodirigé d’apprentissage expérientiel (3 crédits)

Réalisation, individuelle ou en petit groupe, d’une activité expérientielle autodirigée, encadrée par les principes de l’apprentissage expérientiel et supervisée par un professeur. Les étudiantes et étudiants de la Faculté des sciences de la santé seront amenés à réfléchir sur les compétences transversales, notamment les uOCompétences, acquises durant l’activité expérientielle tout en tissant des liens avec les apprentissages académiques de leur parcours.

C) Nature du travail, responsabilités et compétences requises pour le poste

Les cours auto-dirigés constituent une nouvelle formule d’apprentissage expérientiel numérique à l’Université d’Ottawa, alignée sur le cadre uOCompétences et inspirée du modèle SLICC à l’Université d’Édimbourg. Chaque assistant·e d’enseignement (AE) jouera un rôle clé d’accompagnateur·trice auprès d’un groupe d’étudiant·e·s, les guidant dans la planification, la mise en œuvre et la réflexion critique de leur projet respectif. Ce rôle est de nature principalement mentorale et formative.

Une expérience à superviser des étudiant.e.s dans le cadre d’un cours autodirigé est essentielle. Le ou la candidat.e doit faire preuve d’un haut degré d’autonomie et être capable de travailler de manière indépendante dans un environnement d’apprentissage flexible et centré sur l’étudiant.e.

Tâches principales

1. Correction et rétroaction (≈ 85 heures)

• Corriger les travaux, devoirs et évaluations déposés sur Brightspace.
• Fournir une rétroaction claire, structurée et constructive.

2. Contact étudiant (≈ 15 heures)

• Répondre aux questions des étudiants par courriel, les rencontrer en ligne au besoin.
• Offrir un soutien académique de première ligne selon les directives de la professeure.

3. Rencontres avec la professeure et formations initiales (≈ 10 heures)

• Participer aux réunions de coordination et de correction.
• Suivre les formations obligatoires

4. Ateliers Zoom durant la session (≈ 10 heures)

• Assister aux séances synchrones.
• Offrir un soutien technique ou pédagogique en temps réel.

Profil recherché

• Étudiant·e aux cycles supérieurs (sciences de la santé ou domaine connexe).
• Parfait bilinguisme : excellente communication écrite et orale en français et en anglais.
• Autonomie, rigueur et bonne gestion du temps.
• Expérience en correction et en enseignement faisant emploi des outils numériques (Brightspace, Zoom, MS Teams).
• Bonne compréhension du fonctionnement des cours autodirigés à uOttawa.
• Bonne compréhension de l’apprentissage expérientiel ou du cadre uOCompétences.
• Expérience dans des rôles de mentorat, de tutorat, en COOP ou au sein du développement de carrière à uOttawa (un atout).

Le cours est offert entièrement en ligne, principalement en mode asynchrone. Quelques séances synchrones sur Zoom sont prévues au cours du trimestre. L’enseignement et les communications sont bilingues, selon les besoins des étudiantes et étudiants.

Experiential Learning Self-directed (3 units)

Completion, individually or in small groups, of a self-directed experiential activity that is guided by the principles of experiential learning, supervised by a professor. Students of the Faculty of Health Sciences will reflect on the transferable competencies, in particular the uOCompetencies, acquired during the experiential activity while making connections to their academic studies.

C) Nature of the work, responsibilities, and skills required for the position

Self-directed courses are a new form of experiential learning at the University of Ottawa, aligned with the uOcompetencies framework and inspired by the SLICC model at the University of Edinburgh. Each teaching assistant (TA) will play a key role as a mentor to a group of students, guiding them in the planning, implementation, and critical reflection of their projects. This role is primarily mentoring and formative in nature.

Experience supervising students in a self-directed course is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of autonomy, and the ability to work independently in a flexible and student-centred learning environment.

Main responsibilities:

1. Grading and feedback (≈ 85 hours)

• Grade assignments, homework, and assessments submitted on Brightspace.
• Provide clear, structured, and constructive feedback.

2. Student contact (≈ 15 hours)

• Respond to student questions by email, meet with students online as needed.
• Provide front-line academic support according to the instructor's guidelines.

3. Meetings with the professor and initial training (≈ 10 hours)

• Participate in coordination and marking meetings.
• Complete mandatory training.

4. Zoom workshops during the semester (≈ 10 hours)

• Attend synchronous sessions.
• Provide real-time technical or pedagogical support.

Skills required:

• Graduate student (health sciences or related field).
• Fully bilingual: excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
• Ability to work independently, attention to detail, and good time management skills.
• Experience in grading and teaching using digital tools (Brightspace, Zoom, MS Teams).
• Good understanding of how self-directed courses work at uOttawa.
• Good understanding of experiential learning or the uOCompetencies framework.
• Experience in mentoring, tutoring, CO-OP programs, or career development at uOttawa (an asset).

D) Course Delivery 

The course is offered entirely online, mainly in asynchronous format. A few synchronous sessions on Zoom are planned during the semester. Teaching and communications are bilingual, depending on the needs of the students.
