SUMMARY

The individual will provide support to the BSA Compliance Officer and BSA Compliance Manager on BSA-related compliance issues to ensure regulatory requirements through use of various monitoring systems and reports utilized to meet the Bank’s obligations to file Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs). Possess strong knowledge of CTR reporting and exemption requirements, completion of FinCEN Form 104, and indicators of suspicious activity associated with cash transactions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job. 
  • Maintains proficient knowledge of BSA and all related laws and regulations.
  • Supports the Bank’s BSA/Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Program.
  • Completes periodic reviews of customers designated exempt from CTR requirements.
  • Files Designation of Exempt Person Forms with FinCEN for newly exempted customers.
  • Revokes exemptions for customers that no longer qualify for exemption.
  • Updates and maintains CTR Exemption List.
  • Reviews Verafin CTR reports daily for large currency transactions and possible suspicious activity.
  • Completes and Queues CTRs within regulatory timelines.
  • Follows up on requests for information from Centers to complete CTRs.
  • Tracks errors and late CTRs for monthly board reports.
  • Completes monthly, quarterly and annual monitoring of reports as assigned.
  • Assists with review of Verafin SAR batch reports for possible suspicious activity and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Assists Center and Internal Departments with CTR questions and problem solving.
  • Stays current on BSA /USA Patriot Act/OFAC issues and completes training as assigned by training officer or BSA Compliance Officer or BSA Compliance Manager.
  • Completes miscellaneous duties as assigned by BSA Compliance Officer or BSA Compliance Manager.
  • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of the Anti-Money Laundering Software utilized by the Bank, Excel and Word Processing software.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify unusual transaction activity, assess risk, and recognize potential indicators of suspicious behavior. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records in a highly regulated environment. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply banking regulations, regulatory guidance, and internal policies related to BSA, AML, CTR, SAR, and OFAC requirements. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to gather information, explain compliance requirements, and collaborate with associates across departments. 
  • Proficiency in researching, investigating, and resolving compliance-related issues while exercising sound judgment and discretion. 
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and consistently meet regulatory filing and reporting deadlines. 
  • Strong computer and systems skills, including the ability to utilize transaction monitoring and case management systems, generate reports, and maintain compliance-related data.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds.

Skills Required
