As a CT Technologist, you play a vital role in ensuring the safety of patients by providing accurate computed tomography imaging. You will perform scans for a high-volume outpatient department. Because of this fast-paced workflow, efficiency and timeliness are essential. While this unit can get busy, you will still have numerous opportunities to explore the wealth of educational and professional development opportunities offered by Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this role works Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Acquire patients chart data/requisition and review both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems and contraindications to the study.
Verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
Assure patient's safety and comfort during procedures.
Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
Perform VNA punctures as necessary.
Maintain all aspects of the CT area, including the technical and clerical components, to ensure proper quality assurance results and any required documentation.
Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
Observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems to appropriate individuals.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T.(R) (ARRT)] in good standing
Certification in Computed Tomography [R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT)] within one year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Current state licensure
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
