A CT technologist serves an important purpose in a radiology department. The main role is to assist radiologists with the process of imaging, and not that of diagnosis as this is the key role of a physician. CT technologist job description involves taking pictures of the body while utilizing various imaging methods. They are responsible for ensuring the patient's safety during the procedure. Technicians may be required to explain the procedure in layman terms to ensure a patient's comfort. Most importantly, the ability to produce a high-quality image consistently is crucial as this will help physicians to correctly provide diagnosis. Primary Responsibilities:
- This position requires you to work between the x-ray and CT department
- Always ask for at least two forms of identification, (name, DOB)
- Starts IVs on all CT patients that are receiving contrast dye
- Instructing the patients to undergo the appropriate positions to get accurate images
- Keeping radiographic equipment in quality working order
- Obtaining images for any areas requested by the physician or radiologist
- Using radiation on the patient if necessary
- Keeping track of patient records
- Assisting radiologists and physicians in the process of understanding and evaluating the images
- Preventing exposure from certain areas of the patient's body so they do not expose to radiation
- Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works
- Positioning patients properly to obtain x-rays and CT scans
- Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged
- Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process to help the physician diagnose problems
- Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis
- Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped
- Apply HIPPA to every patient
- Putting reports in the patient chart after the Radiologist has read the images, and the report is dictated
- Check each patient's order before scanning the patient, if there are any questions with the order, make sure to ask the ordering physician
- Check patient's creatinine/GFR
- Reminding patients of diabetic medication (not taking it)
- Must have patient fill out consent before exam

Required Qualifications:
- Must be trained in accredited program, must be ARRT certified, and have a SC license
- Certification as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution
- Registered with the ARRT
- SC state license
- Will hire new graduated based off of clinical hours

- 1+ years of experience
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
