The Role
Analyze quantum computing's impact on cryptographic systems, update Shor’s algorithm estimations, contribute to research, and educate clients on post-quantum threats.
Summary Generated by Built In
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing  €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.
Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!

Alice & Bob is building fault-tolerant quantum computers based on cat qubits. As we move from lab to product, we are building a Quantum HPC team to interface between our deep tech and strategic clients—especially in the Defense and cybersecurity sectors.
We’re looking for a Cryptanalysis Specialist to leverage our cryptographic expertise within this team. Your mission: analyze the impact of quantum computing on cryptographic systems, develop credible technical narratives for Defense partners, and contribute to internal research aligned with our FTQC roadmap.

You may come from a cryptography background and want to move deeper into quantum computing—or the reverse. Either way, you’ll be expected to grow on both fronts.

Why Join Quantum HPC team?
- You’ll be at the forefront of quantum-era cryptographic risk
- Your work will directly support business strategy in high-stakes sectors like Defense and cyber
- You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and strategic partners
- You’ll help shape the narrative of quantum cryptanalysis beyond the hype, backed by real technical credibility

Most cryptographers don’t get to work directly with a quantum hardware team. Most quantum scientists don’t get to shape real-world crypto applications.

Here, you do both.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to technical work in quantum cryptanalysis (asymptotic and concrete resource estimation, hybrid attacks, cryptographic impact modeling)
  • Update and refine Shor’s algorithm resource estimations, leveraging our latest ideas and hardware capabilities
  • Explore early FTQC use cases around cryptanalysis
  • Study lesser-explored primitives (e.g. symmetric crypto, PRNGs, MACs) in a quantum context
  • Educate clients and internal teams esp. Defense partners) on post-quantum threats and timelines
  • Contribute to technical content (memos, white papers, briefings) to support strategic engagements
  • Stay aligned with evolving NIST/PQC standards and global crypto-agility trends

Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in cryptography, quantum computing, computer science, or mathematics,
  • with 3 years of experience or as Cryptography expert with familiarity in quantum algorithms and FTQC or in quantum computing researcher with working knowledge of classical cryptography
  • Ability to navigate both research-grade and practical/engineering questions
  • Clear communicator, capable of adapting to scientific, technical, and strategic audiences
  • (Bonus) Experience working with or advising Defense or cybersecurity organizations

Benefits:

  • 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
  • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for bike enthusiasts
  • Competitive health benefits with Helium/AXA
  • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped kitchen
  • Parental benefits with crèche support
  • Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
  • Language courses covered by the company
  • Mental health support with moka.care
  • Subsidized membership with Urban Sports Club

Recruitment Process:

  • Screening Call with Giusy, Talent Acquisition Specialist (30 min)
  • Hiring Manager Interview with the Hiring Manager (45 min)
  • Technical Interview/Presentation with the Team (60 min)
  • Leadership and Fit Interview (45 min)
