AS A CROP PHENOTYPING ENGINEER, YOU WILL....
- Execute and develop hardware to support a variety of row crop phenotyping experiments, both in the field and in controlled environments, encompassing morphological and physiological measurements, as an integral member of a cross-functional Inari Science and Product Phenotyping
- Foster cross-functional relationships with project leads and operational personnel across Inari’s Research and Product Development departments to deliver phenotypic data and analysis that is timely and pertinent to all stakeholders.
- Refine, implement, and scale manual as well as robotics and image- based phenotyping
- Supervise and direct seasonal staff to ensure the successful completion of experiments that are aligned with annual project
- Advance a culture of standardized and traceable data acquisition, procedures, and documentation.
- Clearly and effectively communicate through comprehensive technical reports and articulate oral presentations to a variety of different
- Play an active and collaborative role in the advancement of high- throughput phenotyping methods by contributing innovative ideas and
- Communicate and coordinate with a local team as well as key stakeholders in multiple locations.
- Model behaviors consistent with the highest safety
YOU BRING…
- An MS/MEng or PhD in agricultural, mechanical, or electrical, engineering or in plant biology, plant physiology, agronomy, or plant breeding, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent industry experience.
- Proficiency in standard phenotyping techniques and protocols applicable to major row crops.
- Working proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printing for rapid prototyping of new custom phenotyping hardware
- Basic skills in electric engineering
- Working proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java/Kotlin, C++/C#, etc)
- Familiarity with modern methods from optics and image processing (OpenCV, Pytorch, scipy,…)
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both written and verbal
- Exceptional attention to

- The capacity to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines in a dynamic production
- A collaborative, innovative and strategic mindset, with a readiness to embrace challenges and take calculated
- Self-motivated with the ability to flourish independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS…
- Hands-on experience with automated phenotyping tools and related
- Experience working in an industry setting and with cross functional
- Working proficiency in spoken and written Spanish to train and direct seasonal contract laborers
Familiarity with PLC’s and custom electronics is a plus
