JOB SUMMARY: A CRNA is an advanced practice specialty within the profession of nursing responsible for giving total anesthesia care to patients requiring anesthesia services. CRNA practice includes pre-anesthetic evaluation and preparation, anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthetic care, pain management and responding to emergency situations related to airway management and cardiac life support techniques.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs or its predecessor.
- Current license as Registered Nurse by North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) or current compact state license.
- Current recognition as a CRNA by NCBON.
- Current AHA ACLS/BLS/PALS certification.
- Certification/Recertification by National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current privileges as a CRNA at CarolinaEast.
- Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this organization and state.
- Demonstrates competency in the responsibilities specified in this job description and privileges.
- Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.
Skills Required
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs or its predecessor.
- Current Registered Nurse license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing or a current compact state license.
- Current recognition as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Current AHA ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
- Certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
- Current CRNA privileges at CarolinaEast.
- Insurability through an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for organizational and state-required limits.
