Clara is backed by some of the most successful investors in the world, including top regional VCs like monashees, Kaszek, and Canary, and leading global funds like Notable Capital, Coatue, DST Global Partners, ICONIQ Growth, General Catalyst, Citi Ventures, SV Angel, Citius, Endeavor Catalyst, and Goldman Sachs - in addition to dozens of angel investors and local family offices.
We’re building the financial infrastructure that powers high-performing organizations across the region. We invite you to join us if you want to be part of a fast-paced environment that will accelerate your career and support you to do some of the best work of your life alongside a passionate and committed team distributed across the Americas.

What you'll do

We're looking for a Credit Strategy Specialist to design, implement, and optimize credit strategies that directly impact growth, risk, and customer experience. This role sits at the intersection of data, risk, and business, owning key levers such as credit policies, limit-setting frameworks, and decision rules. You will work closely with Data, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure we scale responsibly while maximizing approval rates and portfolio performance.

Your work will directly influence who we approve, how much we lend, and how we manage risk dynamically across the lifecycle.

  • Own credit strategy design: Define and evolve underwriting policies, approval criteria, and limit-setting frameworks.

  • Translate data into decisions: Leverage analytics and model outputs to drive actionable credit rules.

  • Optimize portfolio performance: Balance approval rates, revenue, and loss rates through continuous strategy iteration.

  • Design decision frameworks: Build and refine rules for acquisition, line increases, and ongoing exposure management.

  • Monitor and react to performance: Track key metrics (approval rate, NPLs, utilization, vintage curves) and adjust strategies accordingly.

  • Drive experimentation: Run A/B tests and controlled rollouts to improve credit outcomes.

  • Improve processes: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in underwriting and decisioning workflows using tools like N8N for automation where applicable.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product, Data, and Growth teams to align credit strategy with business goals, utilizing Metabase or Databricks for data visualization and analysis.

Who you are

“We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.”

Must haves
  • 3+ years of experience in credit risk, strategy, or analytics within financial services or fintech.

  • Strong understanding of credit risk fundamentals (underwriting, exposure, loss drivers, portfolio dynamics).

  • Proven experience in credit policy design and implementation.

  • Advanced SQL skills and strong data intuition.

  • Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools like Databricks.

  • Working proficiency in English and Portuguese.

  • Experience or interest in AI tools to automate workflows.

  • Adaptability to fast-changing environments and excellent verbal and written communication.

Nice to haves
  • Experience in B2B lending, corporate cards, or fintech environments.

  • Exposure to Latin American markets and their specific data limitations.

  • Familiarity with decision engines or rule-based systems.

  • Independent analytical skills using Python.

  • A good sense of humor.
