Role Description

  • The Chief Risk Office function has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, enterprise and liquidity risks and has the responsibility of continual development of methods for risk measurement, frameworks and creating a bank wide strong risk culture.

Your key responsibilities

Within the risk management of EMEA’s Subscription Finance team:

  • With PB Risk Appetite Statement and the specific Underwriting Standards for Subscription Finance, analysis, negotiation and approval of tailored fund finance transactions (capital call / subscription facilities) covering the European Subscription Finance portfolio
  • Interface directly with UK based front office staff on credit approvals, credit requirements and relationship matters; liaise with clients (when required). Work with the Lending team (1st line of defence) and Relationship Managers to manage risk and try to find an optimal solution. Provide timely, transparent communication on the decision-making including risk analysis and approval conditions to the key stakeholders
  • Help robustly monitor the portfolio and ensure pockets of risks within the portfolio are timely identified - be aware of global, regional and local market events and their potential impact on the portfolio. Ensure portfolio quality remains satisfactory, and any risk concentrations and risk limits do not exceed defined risk appetites and are compliant with risk policies and regulations
  • In liaison with Lending, maintain a clean shop with good discipline ensuring trades are properly booked / recorded / covenants and conditions timely monitored / credit terms correctly documented / risk reporting systems contain timely and accurate information
  • Participate in regular quarterly committees, quarterly portfolio monitoring together with Lending and Relationship Management.
  • Support its direct manager as required in its EMEA and Global Coordinator role
  • Train further junior team member in Frankfurt
  • A credit authority will be assigned once justified

Your skills and experience

  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience in corporate or investment banking credit and structured finance in major international financial institutions
  • Ideally, understanding of Wealth Management lending products.
  • Strong understanding of loan structures and loan documentation
  • Proven track record in working with front office to improve deal structures to protect the organisation
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal skills) with an ability to write concise reports
  • Have an open mindset and respects opposing views from different stakeholders
  • Possesses analytical skills and an independent decision-maker with ability to support or defend conclusions
  • Strong MS Office skills and eagerness to use AI tools (Co-Pilot/DB Lumina).
  • Team oriented, flexible, diligent, self-motivated and willing to lead and train junior teammates; someone who aspires to raise the bar
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines as well as working with front-office staff in amicable manner
  • Fluent English both written and verbal.
  • The role will have direct reporting to the London based Head of EMEA Subscription Finance / Global Coordinator Subscription Finance (ad-interim Geneva based EMEA Head Risk Wealth Management).

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
