Job Description

At Flywire, we are hiring our first Credit Risk Manager based in Bangalore or Pune. In this role, you will be a key member of the credit risk team, leading the tactical execution of credit policies, managing a portfolio of accounts, and leveraging data-driven insights to safeguard the company’s financial health.

We are seeking a versatile professional who can analyze complex financial statements in depth, partner with Analytics on model automation initiatives, and effectively manage case queues—while balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute the Strategy: Implement and refine the global credit risk framework across our key verticals (Education, Healthcare, Travel, and B2B), ensuring localized and vertical nuances are captured and addressed.
  • Lead the Underwriting Engine: Manage the end-to-end credit assessment process for new and existing clients. You will be the final touchpoint for complex deals, ensuring deep due diligence and a balanced approach to risk and growth.
  • Advanced Analytics & Modeling: Be a "hands-on" contributor to our risk infrastructure. You will leverage SQL and Python to analyze payment trends, validate credit scoring models, and improve the accuracy of our risk decisioning.
  • Continuous Account Monitoring: Own the lifecycle of the merchant relationship. You will architect and manage real-time account monitoring protocols, tracking processing and settlement patterns and financial health markers to ensure our exposure remains within appetite.
  • Portfolio Health & Early Warning: Actively monitor the global portfolio for early warning signals of deteriorating credit. When a signal is triggered, you will lead the immediate investigation and propose remediation or collateralization strategies.

Qualifications

Here's what we are looking for:

  • The Experienced Analyst: You bring a deep understanding of credit risk, specifically within Payments, Fintech, or Banking. You understand merchant credit, settlement risk, and the complexities of global fund flows.
  • Educational & Professional Foundation: * A Master’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • OR a Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in a credit risk or underwriting leadership role.
  • Technically Proficient: You are highly proficient with data. You have advanced skills in SQL or Python and are comfortable using BI tools (Tableau, Looker) to visualize portfolio risk.
  • The Decision Maker: You are comfortable making high-stakes decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative Communicator: You can translate complex credit concepts into actionable insights for Sales and Product teams, acting as a key partner.
