Credit Manager

San Mateo, CA 

The Credit Manager is responsible for the overall credit management activities and initiatives of Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (or SIE or PlayStation), including the enforcement of the Company’s Credit Policies, Procedures and Practices. The role performs the credit evaluation and risk assessment of current and new customers, recommends the appropriate credit lines, and provide sound credit decisions to management. The position is a high visibility role and customer-facing, dealing directly with finance executives of multiple customer channels and acting as the intermediary between clients and SIE decision-makers. The Credit Manager supports the SIE Sales team in terms of maximizing sales while identifying and mitigating the risks of doing business with customers. This individual articulates the Company’s Credit Policies during business discussions and provides clear direction and/or guidance as it relates to SIE’s credit procedures & practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the credit review process and evaluation of customers’ credit worthiness
  • Responsible for identifying & assessing the credit risks and recommending the appropriate credit limits for HQ approval
  • Articulates comprehensive credit analysis and findings to management/HQ
  • Enforces credit guidelines as outlined in the Global Finance Policies & Procedures and ensures compliance to SOX narratives
  • Develops credit scoring models and analytics to identify and assess credit risks
  • Works with Sales & Operations in forecasting High AR and peak sales periods
  • Supports Treasury initiatives and globalization efforts, particularly in establishing standard credit & control practices
  • Monitors relevant industry developments and market news that may have an impact on the viability of SIE’s customer portfolio, such as potential bankruptcy filings, geo-political & economic events, etc.
  • Acts as the SME in leading discussions on credit-related topics
  • Represents SIE during customer visits and industry meetings & conferences (Riemer, CRF, NACM, etc.)
  • Assists and supports the OTC team in achieving departmental goals and KPIs, including active involvement in various collection & reconciliation work-outs with customers
  • Performs various departmental ad hoc projects and assignments

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in credit management, preferably in the video games and/or home entertainment industry
  • Extensive knowledge in ratio & financial analysis and ability to verbally interpret the numbers in a cohesive & concise manner
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, written and verbal
  • Requires a collaborative & open communication style to facilitate better business relationships with both internal & external partners
  • Solid understanding of general credit and lending procedures, familiarity with SOX, Business and Bankruptcy laws and Credit Insurance procedure
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, or other spreadsheet software programs
  • S/4Hana and Business Objects experience
  • Experience managing a BPO team a plus
  • BS in Accounting, Economics, Banking, and Finance or relevant field preferred but not required

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$110,600$166,000 USD
