About the Opportunity:
Shell Calgary is looking for a Creative Solutions Project Management Lead to become part of the Strategic Communications and Brand Team. This position will directly report to the Creative Solutions Lead. In this role, you will offer strategic advice to stakeholders and Creative Solution Project Managers to develop and deliver top-tier creative solutions that enhance the Shell Brand. Additionally, you will act as the ‘Key Business Liaison and Project Strategy Lead’ for Creative Solutions (CS).
The Shell Brand is an iconic, ubiquitous, and unmistakable symbol of what the Group enterprise, its businesses and its people promise to customers, stakeholders, partners, and staff. After our employees, it is our most valuable asset, independently estimated to be worth just over 50Bn USD, way ahead of our core competitors and some of the biggest brands across all sectors. It is more than a logo, as it compellingly represents why, with every touchpoint, one must Buy our products, services, and solutions but also why one must Buy Into what we stand for, especially our Purpose. This is the inspiring and energizing journey that Corporate Relations Brand (CRB) will continue to drive, towards earning Trust and Preference.
The Brand team methodically develops and sharpens Brand Strategy, anchoring its substance whilst enabling its style or expressions to pivot towards a digital-first, AI-powered century. A particular emphasis is the architecture of a unifying Brand that pulls and carries our key business sub-Brands. Through SBI, we also profitably monetize the brand via trademarks licensing worth 500Mn USD in royalty income. Aimed at wider society, specifically Energy-engaged Customers, our Brand Advertising campaigns are crafted to humanize the brand, stimulating awareness and demand for our value-propositions on the energy we need today (e.g., Gas) and tomorrow (e.g., EV, Wind). Independent econometric modelling consistently proves that our advertising investments deliver incremental ROI (over 2x) to our customer-centric businesses e.g., Mobility, Lubricants and RES. The more recent campaigns in US, DE, NL, and Brazil have delivered record levels of High Trust and significant uplifts in core Brand Equities.
In the service of Shell businesses and functions across the Group, CR Brand also provides strategic, operational, and tech-enabled services such as Digital & Social Media Strategy and Creative Solutions (CS). Against clear objectives, our DSM unit defines the most relevant digital-social channel strategies and techniques to optimize bespoke content for maximum effectiveness. They manage a vast digital real estate with 150 websites, in 40 languages, earning nearly 60Mn annual visits and generating over 1Bn impressions per year. We also have the biggest social media followership, at 2.5x the average of our key competitors.
Against clear briefs, our Creative Solutions unit manages and produces creatively effective content, which comply with Brand Standards and deliver incredible cost savings via disintermediation of agencies (and their fees). The team manages over 600 projects worth 100Mn USD in Shell creative content projects and has saved the group 60Mn USD in 2023 alone. With award-winning work (12 major awards in 2023), it consistently gets high ratings from its internal clients with 100% rating CS as having ‘met or exceeded expectations’ (53% rating them ‘perfect’ across all KPIs).
Creative Solutions is Shell’s go-to team for integrated content creation, design, film and experiential. CS delivers work through a combination of in-house expertise and experienced project managers who deliver projects through a roster of curated agency partners. Our in-house offer includes:
