Position Summary

At barre3, we are on a mission to redefine what success in fitness means—shifting the focus away from punishing workout culture toward an evidence-based, mindful practice that leaves people balanced in body and empowered from within. As boutique fitness faces commoditization, our brand serves as the trusted Guide: empathetic, grounded, authoritative, and intentionally designed for sustainable health.

To lead our next chapter of growth, we are looking for a visionary, hands-on Creative Lead. This role serves as our primary storyteller, aesthetic compass, and performance creative engine. You will position the client as the hero of our narrative, using design, tone, and high-velocity digital creative to meet them across every stage of their journey.

Reporting to the VP of Growth Marketing & Digital, you are an agile player-coach who balances elevated brand polish with data-driven performance. Whether art-directing seasonal retail campaigns, architecting rapid modular testing pipelines for paid media, or equipping our franchise network with turnkey toolkits, you will translate strategic customer insights into creative work that drives community growth and business results.

** Primary residence must be in the greater Portland area **

Key Responsibilities1. Brand Guardianship, Visual Identity & Narrative
  • Direct the Creative Standard: Serve as the day-to-day visual and narrative compass across all consumer, digital, environmental, and franchise touchpoints, maintaining our commitment to elevated aesthetics, organic warmth, intentional simplicity, and approachable typography.
  • Position the Brand as the Guide: Ensure all creative work establishes the client as the hero and barre3 as the expert partner, reinforcing our core message of whole-body fitness, guided support, and sustainable practice.
  • Evolve Design Systems: Maintain and evolve our typography standards, layout principles, and distinct channel color palettes to ensure visual continuity across physical studios, digital platforms, and marketing channels.
  • Studio & Spatial Experience: Guide the physical expression of the brand across interior layouts, material palettes, environmental graphics, and wayfinding to ensure cohesive, elevated studio environments.
  • Retail Partnership & Brand Integration: Guide the visual tone of all retail touchpoints, directing seasonal product and lifestyle shoots to deliver on-brand creative assets that support e-commerce sales and studio boutique discovery.
2. Performance Marketing & Modular Asset Engine
  • Growth Team Partnership: Work in lockstep with the Growth Marketing team to concept, design, and deliver high-converting creative for Meta, Google/YouTube, OTT, web landing pages, and CRM.
  • Iterative & Modular Production: Design modular creative systems (testing varied hooks, angles, typography callouts, aspect ratios, and CTAs) to power rapid A/B testing and lower customer acquisition costs.
  • Dedicated Performance Creative Engine: Architect and lead an always-on, high-velocity creative testing pipeline with protected weekly pod capacity. Partner with Growth Marketing to concept, ship, and iterate new creative hooks, visual angles, and modular variants on a predictable sprint cadence—completely decoupled from longer-lead brand campaign cycles.
  • Video Creative Direction: Direct shoot lists, capture styles, and pacing for rapid video iteration across short- and long-form formats to fuel always-on digital channels.
3. Franchise Network Enablement & Toolkits
  • Turnkey Local Playbooks: Create practical, intuitive local marketing toolkits, digital asset management (DAM) libraries, and self-serve templates (e.g., Canva/Figma) for franchise studio owners.
  • Studio Profitability Alignment: Ensure local marketing assets are easy for studio owners to deploy, cost-effective to produce locally, and targeted at driving trial bookings and member retention.
4. Creative Operations & Team Leadership
  • Manage the Creative Pod: Guide, mentor, and inspire in-house designers, videographers, copywriters, and freelance specialists, fostering a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
  • Workflow Efficiency: Partner with the team to balance sprint capacity, optimize brief-to-delivery workflows, and eliminate bottlenecks without sacrificing quality.
  • Cross-Functional Cohesion: Collaborate with the Product and Operations teams to ensure visual and narrative alignment across in-studio classes, physical environments, digital apps, and brand experiences.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Performance Creative Lift: Measurable efficiency improvements in paid growth campaigns, including hook rates, click-through rates, landing page conversion rates, and acquisition efficiency.
  • Production Cadence & Velocity: Consistent, on-time delivery of creative assets across bi-weekly growth sprints, retail launches, and seasonal franchise campaigns.
  • Retail Conversion & Sell-Through: Storytelling and creative assets that drive apparel and product sales across online and brick-and-mortar channels.
  • Franchise Field Adoption: High adoption of local marketing toolkits, positive field feedback, and strong brand alignment across studio locations.
  • Brand Consistency: Cohesive visual execution and zero brand drift across all digital, environmental, and retail touchpoints.

RequirementsRequired Qualifications
  • 6–8+ years of hands-on art direction, brand design, and creative production experience, with at least 2+ years managing creative talent.
  • Player-Coach Mentality: Excited to operate strategically while staying actively involved in design execution, video edits, and copy refinement.
  • Growth Creative Acumen: Experience running iterative creative testing pipelines in partnership with performance marketers, with fluency in conversion design and mobile video trends.
  • Retail & Apparel Acumen: Experience directing on-figure apparel shoots and translating physical retail products into compelling digital and in-studio demand.
  • Field Empathy: Ability to design intuitive, turnkey tools and templates that non-designers in a franchise network can easily implement.
  • Mission Alignment: Inspired by the barre3 philosophy of mindful movement, balanced well-being, and redefining success in fitness.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere/After Effects basics)
