The CreateSmart Creative Design Lead will be responsible for building, leading, and continuously elevating the creative design capability within the Medical Content Team, enabling high-quality visual communication across diverse medical content and business scenarios. This role will oversee the delivery of key visuals, banners, posters, medical presentation design, digital assets, and multimedia content.
This position requires strong creative and design expertise, with the ability to lead high-complexity design assignments while demonstrating outstanding team leadership, cross-functional orchestration, and AI-enabled design capability. The role will work closely with BU stakeholders, content teams, and medical review teams to ensure creative outputs are visually compelling, strategically aligned, medically appropriate, and review-ready.
Responsibilities
Creative Design Leadership: Lead high-complexity creative design projects, including key visuals, banners, posters, presentation visual design, digital materials, and multimedia content. Ensure all creative outputs demonstrate strong visual quality, brand consistency, medical communication relevance, and alignment with business objectives.
Design Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and coach the design team. Allocate design resources effectively, review creative quality, establish clear working standards, delivery timelines, and feedback mechanisms, and continuously enhance the team's creative capability and execution efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the key creative interface between the design team, BU stakeholders, content teams, and medical review teams. Accurately interpret business needs, content priorities, and review requirements, and translate them into clear creative briefs and actionable design directions.
Complex Project Orchestration: Oversee priority projects and high-complexity design assignments, including requirement clarification, creative direction setting, visual solution evaluation, project timeline management, and final quality control to ensure on-time and high-standard delivery.
Design System & Process Optimization: Establish and continuously optimize design SOPs, creative templates, presentation master layouts, visual guidelines, and reusable asset libraries to improve consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across design deliverables.
AI-Enabled Creative Production: Explore and drive the application of AI capabilities in the design workflow, supporting creative ideation, visual exploration, layout optimization, content adaptation, and production efficiency improvement. Develop practical methodologies and governance principles for AI-assisted design.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or above in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, Multimedia Design, Advertising Design, or other related design disciplines is required. Master's degree in a design-related discipline is highly preferred.
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant design experience, preferably gained from leading advertising agencies, creative agencies, digital marketing agencies, healthcare communication agencies, or in-house creative teams.
Prior experience as Creative Design Lead, Visual Design Lead, Senior Art Lead, Design Team Lead, or equivalent leadership role is highly preferred.
Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical communication, or professional content platforms is a strong plus.
Proven track record in delivering high-quality creative work, leading design teams, managing complex design projects, and driving cross-functional collaboration.
Technical Skills Requirements
Advanced Design Expertise: Strong visual design capability, including layout, typography, color, composition, visual hierarchy, brand consistency, and digital content adaptation.
High-Complexity Design Delivery: Ability to independently assess and lead complex design assignments, provide clear creative direction, and translate complex medical or scientific content into clear, professional, engaging, and audience-appropriate visual communication.
Team Leadership Capability: Proven experience in managing design teams, including resource allocation, creative quality review, capability development, workflow optimization, and performance enablement.
Mature & Strategic Communication Skills: Excellent cross-functional communication and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with BU stakeholders, content teams, and medical review teams. Able to understand diverse stakeholder needs and drive alignment toward high-quality execution.
Project Management Excellence: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize resources effectively, and ensure high-quality delivery under fast-paced timelines.
AI Application Capability: Strong awareness and practical capability in AI-assisted design. Able to integrate AI capabilities into creative ideation, visual exploration, and design production workflows to enhance efficiency, innovation, and creative quality.
