JOB DESCRIPTION:  This candidate must be able to Fabricate wooden crates and skids to ship final product. This position is responsible for working at a pace that continually keeps work moving through the system and ensures the promised ship dates are met.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lays out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil.
  • Assembles materials, using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue, and hand tools.
  • Places product in container, manually or using hoist.
  • Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
  • Wraps and pads produce excelsior, paper or other packing material.
  • Wraps and tightens metal bands around crate, using banding equipment & attach identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained on crate.
  • May weigh loaded crate & move container(s) to shipping area, move lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area, using hand or industrial truck.

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work in the natural element of heat and cold (production facility is not heated in winter nor cooled in summer)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work scheduled shifts
  • Must be able to work at heights of greater than 6 feet on a regular basis/as work dictates
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary/required and with short notice
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions as job requires working inside and outside through the course of a single shift
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, grasp with hands, feel texture with fingers, cling, walk, twist, stand, and work on concrete for up to twelve hours per day up to six (6) days per week

  • Demonstrates ability to work safely
  • Able to work from a priority list
  • Able to work with others or independently
  • Be organized and keep necessary documents and prints updates with any change
Qualifications

Skills Required: 

  • Able to read and write
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Demonstrate the ability to read a tape measure to 1/16” increments

 

Environment & Working Conditions:

  • Able to endure climate changes (hot and cold)

 

Physical Demands:

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to bend, stoop, and climb
  • Able to work while standing on concrete for up to 12 hours a day
