The role is responsible for shaping a favorable policy environment,mitigating regulatory risks, advancing the company's business objectives, and positioning the company as a trusted partner in Nepal's digital economy and mobility ecosystem.
The successful candidate will develop and execute public policy strategies, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and lead advocacy initiatives that support innovation, fair competition, and sustainable
growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive public policy and government affairs strategy for Nepal.
- Build and maintain relationships with government ministries, regulatory agencies, parliamentarians, local governments, and relevant public institutions.
- Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and political developments that may impact the business.
- Provide strategic advice to management on policy risks, opportunities, and stakeholder dynamics.
- Lead advocacy efforts on issues affecting the digital economy, platform businesses, ride-sharing, mobility, labor, taxation, consumer protection, and competition policy.
- Prepare policy briefs, position papers, consultation responses, and regulatory submissions.
- Represent the company in meetings, consultations, hearings, and policy discussions with government stakeholders.
Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans to strengthen the company's reputation and influence.
- Build relationships with industry associations, chambers of commerce, think tanks, academic institutions, NGOs, and other external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships that support the company's policy and business objectives.
- Organize stakeholder roundtables, policy dialogues, workshops, and industry events.
- Serve as a key external representative of the company on public policy matters.
Advocacy and Campaign Management :
- Design and execute advocacy campaigns supporting business priorities and regulatory objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts involving operations, legal, communications, marketing, and business teams.
- Mobilize industry and community support when necessary on key policy issues.
- Develop evidence-based advocacy supported by data, economic analysis, and market insights.
Strategic Communications Support:
- Work closely with communications teams to ensure policy positions are effectively communicated.
- Support the development of thought leadership content, media engagement strategies, and public messaging.
- Prepare briefing materials, speeches, talking points, FAQs, and stakeholder presentations for senior executives.
- Manage sensitive public affairs issues and support crisis response efforts when required.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct policy, regulatory, and political analysis to inform decision-making.
- Commission and manage external research, economic studies, and policy assessments
- where appropriate.
- Track industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging policy developments.
- Develop regular reports and updates for senior leadership
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, International
- Relations, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- A master's degree is an advantage.
- 3–5+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, public affairs, regulatory affairs, political consulting, public sector engagement, or a related field.
- Experience engaging with Nepal's government institutions and regulatory bodies.
- Experience working in technology, digital platforms, telecommunications, transportation, consulting, development organizations, or regulated industries is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully influencing policy outcomes and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of Nepal's political, regulatory, and policy landscape.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Ability to develop persuasive policy arguments and advocacy strategies.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
