Counsel
Overview
Mastercard is seeking a Counsel (Manager) to provide legal support to assigned business units in Brazil, notably Customer Risk Management, working closely with senior legal team members and business stakeholders. This role supports Mastercard's commercial operations by delivering timely, practical legal advice and managing contractual risk in alignment with corporate objectives.
Role• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including standard and non standard contracts, escalating complex or high risk issues as appropriate.• Partner with business teams to provide legal guidance on day to day commercial and operational matters.• Support senior counsel on more complex transactions, initiatives, and projects.• Assist in the development, maintenance, and improvement of contract templates, standard terms, and legal processes.• Coordinate with external counsel and internal subject matter experts when required.• Contribute to knowledge sharing, process efficiency, and continuous improvement within the legal function.
All About You• Law degree and admission to the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), in good standing.• 6+ years of post qualification legal experience, with solid experience in commercial contracts and negotiations.• Knowledge of the electronic payments and financial services industry is a differential.• Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.• Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast paced environment with attention to detail and responsiveness.• Pragmatic, collaborative, and business oriented mindset.• Fluent in English (spoken and written).• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
