Position Summary
7-Eleven is seeking an highly accomplished, experienced litigation attorney to join its Legal team as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor. This role will manage a significant portfolio of litigation and pre-litigation matters across the United States and Canada, with a primary focus on premises liability, personal injury, and general liability claims. The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal counsel, partner with cross-functional stakeholders, and help drive effective risk management strategies that support company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a high-volume portfolio of litigation and pre-litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies in alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Direct and manage outside counsel, including case strategy, performance, budgets, and overall legal spend.
- Provide legal guidance to business leaders on claims, investigations, dispute resolution, and risk management issues.
- Oversee litigation support resources and manage all aspects of e-discovery, including preservation, collection, review, and production of documents.
- Analyze litigation trends and claims data to identify emerging risks and recommend proactive solutions
- Develop and enhance litigation processes, reporting, and governance practices to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Support compliance, policy development, training, and enterprise-wide risk reduction initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active license to practice law.
- 5+ years of litigation experience, including management of complex or high-volume case portfolios.
- Strong background in premises liability, personal injury, general liability, or related litigation matters.
- Demonstrated success managing outside counsel and driving favorable business and legal outcomes.
- Knowledge of litigation strategy, claims management, e-discovery, and risk mitigation practices.
- Excellent legal judgment, communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
- Experience supporting large retail, restaurant, hospitality, franchise, or consumer-facing organizations.
- Familiarity with litigation analytics, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
- A collaborative, business-oriented approach with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
