Cost Accounting Supervisor
Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accounting Supervisor to join our Greenfield manufacturing site in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Starting off as an individual contributor, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining cost accounting processes for our newly established production facility and will provide valuable insights into cost structures to help optimize operational efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities: .

Develop cost accounting processes, procedures, and systems to support the financial framework of the Greenfield manufacturing site.

Monthly cost accounting journal entries/reconciliation procedures, ongoing standard cost updates, ongoing workorder reviews, and other tasks.

Perform detailed cost analysis for raw materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead; provide regular cost reports and insights to support management in cost optimization and control.

Partner with the existing Global Operations Finance team to transition from tactically performing cost accounting functions to strategically reviewing these functions.

Coordinate/manage the “Big 4” external audit process as it pertains to cost accounting, including oversite of the physical inventory counts.

Conduct variance analysis to compare actual production costs against budgeted or standard costs. Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to optimize costs.

Support the finance team in developing and updating budgets and financial forecasts, focusing on production cost estimates and trends.

Actively participate in Business Process Excellence initiatives in connection with the implementation of Oracle Fusion cloud-based ERP for the business.

Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and engineering teams to gain a thorough understanding of production processes and the impact on cost structures.

Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost accounting and inventory management to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with Professional Certifications or Master’s degree in Cost Accounting (e.g., CMA, ACCA, CIMA) are preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment; experience in setting up costing processes for a Greenfield site will be highly preferred.

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and financial analysis.

Proficiency utilizing ERP systems (Oracle, SAP or similar), added plus if you also have experience with ERP system implementations

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing financial data and cost analysis.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present cost analysis findings to stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
