Job Description

As Cost Value Engineering Manager (m/f/diverse), you will be leading dedicated projects to evaluate supplier components cost structure and developing saving potentials prior and after SOP on component prices, tooling costs and investment for manufacturing equipment. Using systematic methods for improving the value of products and systems by reflecting their functions in an early development phase.

Your tasks include the following responsibilities:

  • Execute Supplier Cost Audits (SCA) at suppliers together with Category Management (CM) and confront suppliers up to top management with the costs calculated as a base for price negotiations and discuss cost reduction potentials
  • Execute cost structure and value stream analyses and market price validations.
  • Plan and moderate cross-functional workshops focused on cost optimization and value improvement (e.g., Design-to-Cost, Design-to-Value, Re-Design-to-Cost).
  • Support make-or-buy decisions and sourcing strategies through detailed cost evaluations and recommendations to management.
  • Participating in worldwide cost reduction projects on supplier component prices, tooling costs and investment for manufacturing equipment
  • Support Category Purchasing with yearly price negotiations (APN)
  • Identifying main projects within dedicated area and potential suppliers
  • Improvement of manufacturing processes at supplier manufacturing locations for selected products / assemblies
  • Follow-up cost reduction potential until final implementation

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or similar
  • Professional work experience in costing or costing related functions
  • Multiple years of professional experience within automotive industry, desirably in quality and engineering, advanced purchasing, category purchasing, tool management, cost management and/or manufacturing planning
  • Deep understanding of product cost structures, manufacturing technologies, and value chains
  • Proven expertise in Target Costing, Design-to-Cost, Design-to-Value, Benchmarking, and Cost Auditing
  • Strong skills in cost calculation methodologies, cost modeling, and market analysis
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management abilities between Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance
  • Experience in method development, process optimization, and change management in cost and value management contexts
  • Profound project management experience
  • Business fluent German and English language skills (both written and spoken)
  • Highly analytical skills with strong communication, moderation, and presentation skills
  • Very good negotiation skills required (for negotiations with suppliers and customers)
  • Intercultural competence
  • Travel requirement up to 50%
