POSITION SUMMARY
The Cost Representative I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting project cost control functions through maintaining accurate cost data and assisting with earned value tracking and reporting. This position focuses on learning cost systems, processes, and procedures while contributing to data accuracy and project team support.
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE
To support project cost control by ensuring the integrity of cost data, assisting in reporting, and developing foundational knowledge of cost systems and earned value practices.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain cost system data integrity and ensure accuracy of entries
Assist with earned value tracking and basic forecasting activities
Generate standard cost reports for project teams
Support contract and commercial analysis efforts
Follow established processes, procedures, and deadlines
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and project teams
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Degree in Business, Engineering, or Mathematics
EXPERIENCE:
0–1 year of relevant experience (entry-level)
Internship or exposure to cost, accounting, or project environments preferred
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to learn systems, processes, and cost methodologies
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
General office environment with occasional exposure to construction site conditions.
Frequent use of computers, calculators, printers, and other office equipment.
Requires close vision, color perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Fast-paced and variable work environment.
