Job Description

As a Cost Manager at AECOM Netherlands, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Project Managers with comprehensive cost control across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for both client-facing and internal project management activities, ensuring robust cost evaluation, effective change management, and accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

 

You will join a dynamic Netherlands team of 110 professionals based in The Hague, forming part of AECOM’s global network of over 50,000 experts. This extensive network enables us to bring a wealth of knowledge, innovation, and best practices to every project we deliver.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control project budgets, providing ongoing cost reviews and trend assessments.
• Advise on value engineering and cost optimization strategies to keep projects within budget.
• Coordinate the variations process and manage change orders, including evaluation of client changes and contra charges.
• Review and approve contractor invoices, prepare interim payment certificates, and oversee the settlement of final accounts.
• Attend and contribute to regular cost meetings, producing clear and concise monthly cost reports.
• Deliver cost advisory services and support value/cost analysis for both internal stakeholders and clients.
• Maintain effective communication with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment and transparency.
• Participate in the bid process as required, supporting the bidding team with input and pricing for cost management fee services.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Dutch cost management practices and the local market.
• Fluency English and Dutch preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• High degree of accuracy and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong team orientation and customer focus (internal and external).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.
• Membership in the Institution of Chartered Surveyors is preferred.
