Job Description:

We are now looking for a Electronics Cost Engineer to join our Airbus GBS team.

Responsibilities - your mission

As an Electronics Cost Engineer – you will engage in activities with an initial focus on procurement support and design to cost/value topics.

Procurement Support

  • Carry out cost assessment and highlight the cost drivers by giving the cost understanding for optimization. You will work jointly with engineering, programs and procurement.

  • Liaise with Multi Functional Team leaders and commodity buyers to agree on the joint priorities and planning for Recurring and Non-Recurring Cost (RC and NRC) related work to be performed in best alignment between customer needs and Costing. constraints proposing alternatives when needed (delivery date, estimation methodology). 

  • Lead the costing gap analysis to identify negotiation levers and support negotiations treating all cost areas including manufacturing times and efficiencies, hourly rates and uplifts, NRCs.

Design to Cost

  • Guide engineering in the specification and design of new components, modules and systems with a focus on keeping recurring costs down while maximizing real value.

  • Provide guidance for Go / No Go decision making for Design to Cost / Design to Value ideas at an early stage to eliminate non-viable ideas.

  • Think out of the box and proactively propose cost efficient solutions, challenging the design proposals from other partners as well as the assumptions and constraints on which they are based.

  • Provide well founded, on the spot guidance as well as estimations and analysis at an appropriate level of detail on design trades, identifying relevant cost drivers to guide decision making. Challenge estimations coming from suppliers or internal departments. 

  • The specific role will be defined in accordance with the candidate’s profile and expertise.
     

Requirements - our ideal candidate will have

  • Educated to Master degree level (or equivalent) in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial electronic/electric manufacturing processes and their costs.

  • Knowledge and understanding of related testing methods, acceptance test procedures and assembly.

  • Electronic design experience with general understanding about electronic equipment development (design, planning, process assurance, certification, lifecycle data).

  • General understanding about SW development preferably for A/Cs  .

  • Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Good communication and presentation skills at all levels.

  • Strong ability to interact and Influence.

  • Very good strategic and analytical skills incl. data analysis.

  • Basic experience in project management.

  • Language Skills: Negotiation level of English.
