As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Controller to support project execution and financial performance across a diverse and expanding portfolio.
The Role
We are looking for a Cost Controller to join our Finance and Contract Management team. You will be responsible for budget management, financial reporting, cost tracking, and supplier interface to ensure the successful financial delivery of renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage budget vs. actual vs. forecast reporting (OPEX & CAPEX) for projects.
- Prepare and present monthly cost and performance reports.
- Create and manage WBS, cost centres, and profit centres using ApprovalMax.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of cost control systems and procedures.
- Liaise with project managers and cost centre owners to forecast costs.
- Support supplier payments, invoice matching, and reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate supplier records, purchase orders, and age analysis.
- Provide documentation for audits and compliance (IPPO, BBBEE, statutory).
- Ensure vendor data is current, including banking details and BBBEE certificates.
- Act as the super user for accounts payable on the ERP system.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
National Diploma / BTech / BCom in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
3–5 years’ post-article experience in cost control or project accounting.
Experience in a complex construction or renewable energy environment.
Proficiency in IFRS, cost capitalisation, project finance, and online banking platforms.
Strong skills in MS Office (especially Excel) and ERP/accounting systems.
Advantageous:
- Certification with SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, or ACCA.
- Experience with Xero and ApprovalMax.
- Knowledge of wind farm execution, critical path, and risk analysis.
