SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE
The Cost & Collaboration Accounting Manager will have responsibility for providing managerial level accounting support for the Company's transactions related to cost and inventory accounting, Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) R&D related costs and accruals, as well as provide managerial level accounting support for the Company's in-licensing collaboration agreements. This position will interface daily with Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSC), FP&A, Alliance Management and the G/L and technical accounting teams to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, which includes review or preparation of journal entries, review of balance sheet reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet and income statement, specifically focused on inventory, COGS, in-licensing collaboration accounts, and/or the monthly CMC R&D accruals.
- Perform cost accounting activities including developing and analyzing standard costs, excess & obsolete reserves, scrap analysis, inventory variance reviews, book to perpetual and analysis and reporting of inventory and COGS.
- Review and analysis of the reconciled general ledger accounts on a monthly basis including book to perpetual inventory, inventory reserves, in-licensing collaboration accruals, and/or CMC R&D accruals.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement flux analysis with detailed commentary for management reporting, related to cost and inventory accounting, and/or CMC R&D accruals.
- Collaborate with PSC, FP&A, and other cross-functional departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of COGS, inventory balances, and/or CMC R&D accruals.
- Drive process improvements in the accounting and reporting of inventory, COGS and in-licensing collaborations, and/or CMC R&D accruals.
- Support Accounting Operations or other projects and initiatives.
- Responsible for accounting systems or accounting processes.
- Oversee external audit requests and PBC items for the quarterly and year-end audits.
- Oversee Cost, Inventory, Collaboration, and/or CMC R&D accrual SOX related activities and ensure SOX compliance.
- Provide training to new and existing staff.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational innovation and regularly interact with business owners and senior level management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education
- BS/BA degree in related discipline and 7 years related experience; or,
- MS/MA degree in related discipline and 5 years related experience; or,
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Experience
- Experience in Auditing, Accounting or Cost Accounting.
- Experience with one of 4 major accounting firms is preferred.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- General knowledge of accounting/finance principles and theory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Strong analytical and business communication skills.
- Strong attention to details and ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to interact cooperatively and work as a team.

- SAP software proficiency - highly preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $120,500 - $171,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
