Huntsman is seeking a Cost Accountant supporting our GBS located in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor.
Job Scope
The focus of this position will be supporting the business needs with monthly costing calculations, JE postings, inventory adjustments, PUP posting and analysis, among other tasks. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, have an aptitude to learn, be self-accountable for monthly tasks, and be able to meet deadlines.
This position requires the individual be capable of trend analysis, reconciliation, and proactive.
What is expected from you?
- Monthly PUP run and analysis of associated JE’s
- Prepare monthly and quarterly JE’s (accruals, obsolescence calculations, inventory adjustments, gains/losses, etc.)
- Inventory reconciliation, material costing, and posting of associated gain/loss JE’s
- Inventory auditing and review of obsolete inventory
- Drive continuous improvement through developing, automating, and maintaining reports and processes
- Assist in providing analytical support for the business group
- Assist as needed for special projects/improvements
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules
- Knowledge of US GAAP
In summary, as the Cost Accountant, you will:
With moderate supervision and moderate decision-making:
- Responsible for general ledger accounting, stock-points and consignment inventory reconciliations, reconciliation of accounts. Ensure stock-point balances are reconciled monthly to SAP.
- Month end close. Reports to the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor and is responsible for revaluing the product exchanges and ensures balances are reconciled and confirmed by exchange partners.
- Audit – Support the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor in fulfilling all quarterly and annual audit requirements, including the preparation of all PBC schedules. Assist the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor in resolving audit inquiries as requested.
- Perform financial data uploads into SAP for various foreign subsidiaries.
- SOX Compliance – Support in maintaining internal controls as required by SOX.
Other general responsibilities:
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
- Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
- Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience required
- 2+ years accounting experience
Skills and knowledge
- Intermediate Excel skills (there will be a test)
- SAP experience is a plus
- BI experience is a plus
- Cost accounting experience
