Position Summary

Beauty Professional responsible for working with guests to achieved desired hair, makeup, and nail designs.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.   Preforms consultation with guests to determine desired results.

2.   Performs coloring, cutting, hair styling, and shampooing.

3.   Performs cutting, cleaning, grooming, and painting nails.

4.   Applies makeup and creates a variety of looks.

5.   Sets up workstations with necessary equipment and supplies to ensure guest comfort and safety as outlined

      in the provider check list.

6.   Restocks all supplies leaving workstation stocked for the next technician at the end of each shift as outlined 

      in the provider checklist.

7.   Updates and maintains customer information records, such as beauty services provided, and guest

      preferences as outlined in the SOP.

8.   Rebooks and upsells services to guests by educating, demonstrating and recommending products related to

      the service.

9.   Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional as outlined in the SOP.

10. Follows all company policies and procedures maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.

11. Follows all state board regulations to ensure proper sanitation of all implements and tools used.

12. Continues in computer-based learning and implements these skills into the workplace. 

13. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to

      report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for  

      Pueblo of Sandia.

 This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success.  KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of hair styling, skin care and hair removal techniques.
  2. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  4. Must have excellent time management skills.
  5. Must have basic math skills.
  6. Knowledge of hair products sold and the ability to promote and sell them.
  7. Proper use of equipment such as scissors, clippers, curlers, straighteners, and dryers.
  8. Experience with bridal hair and makeup styles preferred but not required.
  9. Knowledge of caring for nails such as softening and trimming cuticles, shaping nails and applying nail polish.
  10. Knowledge of working with hair such as cut, shampoo, style, and color using chemical solutions such as bleach and dye.
  11. Must be knowledgeable of daily “stand-ups” and actively participate in daily goals.
  12. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals.
Qualifications

   Education and Experience  

Required:

    1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
    2. Three (3) years cosmetologist/hairstylist experience.
    3. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Note:  Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. 

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. State of New Mexico Board of Cosmetology license.
  2. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  3. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Balancing

Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Finger Dexterity


Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Grasping

Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Hearing

Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on various work surfaces throughout internal or external locations.

  1. Work is performed indoors.
  2. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  4. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
  5. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching.
  6. Specific required movements include the following:
    • Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry.
    • Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate.
    • Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate.
    • Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.

Skills Required
