Essential Functions
- Learning fundamental and principles of corrosion control, department procedures and processes.
- Develops deeper understanding allowing them to work basic jobs on their own but requires support when encountering more complex work.
- Obtains required OQ’s to perform all associated job role tasks.
- Employee should be reading corrosion related literature or material to assist in learning corrosion control principles and theory.
- Employee shall attend and successfully pass Underground Corrosion Short Course Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Rectifier courses.
- Employee is beginning to understand what remedial work should be completed to remediate the situation and how the workflow process is completed.
- Employee is generally following another, more experienced employee to learn the basics.
- When given their own assignments they are expected to complete them in the target timeframe.
- Working extended hours as needed to complete tasks and help others in the department.
- Employee is beginning to work self-directed and make remedial decisions without direct supervision.
- Employee is being introduced to the fundamentals and principles of corrosion control.
- Beginning to perform work on their own with support from Supervisor or other department members.
- Employee beginning to develop ability to use corrosion verbiage/terms to communicate technical issues with supervisor, department employees, and other NiSource employees.
- Possesses adequate communication skills to relay basic and complex issues to others outside the discipline.
- Employee familiarization with NiSource Corrosion standards and understanding of CFR 49 Part 192 Subpart I requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications For Position
- Minimum of at least an Associate's degree
- Valid driver's license
- Experience working with GIS software
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- No certification required, but employee should be studying towards AMPP/NACE CP1 & CIP1.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Previous cathodic protection experience
